Thanks! Nice price. If they weren't so ugly, I'd order them for the office. ASIN B082Q26GGD for those having a hard time finding it.
They aren't for "worldwide travel" like the Anker (that accepts 110-240v), fwiw. That was important to me but probably not to others.

I've had nothing but trouble with three different Amazon branded electronics. I'd go Anker as well given the choice

Thanks for the ASIN. I don't know if it's just me but for some reason I trust Anker more than Amazon's house brands even knowing the difference in specs from above. Though it's definitely possible that it's just because the Amazon ones are just so ridiculously ugly.

Get 3 AC outlets and 4 USB ports in a similar form factor for just over $7 each when you buy the 6-pack of this Amazon Commercial product "AmazonCommercial AC and USB Desktop Outlet" (search for that in Amazon using the quotes).

The Amazon Commercial model features a heavy duty 14 AWG, 6' cord, features basic surge protection, and is UL listed. This Anker product has a thinner 18 AWG cord, no surge protection, and a UL listing for a specification (817) [certipedia.com] which isn't necessarily appropriate to this kind of product.

Good luck!

I personally loathe this form factor (popularized by some questionable OEMs who sometimes seem to make even worse component selections than Anker).

If you're looking for something less garish(?) I'd point you to the more traditional power strip shape. Those are more plentiful, especially from traditional power strip brands and OEMs.

Good luck!

"Similar form factor" is misleading. From what I can see for the listed dimensions, the Amazon devices are about 3.5" per side, while the Anker is at least an inch smaller at 2.44" on each side. That's a pretty huge difference.

Still if the bigger size doesn't bother you the Amazon one isn't a bad deal. It also benefits from a 6' cord vs 5' on the Anker.

USB output too low unless you only use one port at a time.

I wish Anker will create one with usb-c + power delivery so I can replace my MacBook charger. And use Galium Nitride tech to make it small form factor.

Neat catch. I was indeed referencing the cube design more so than a direct size reference/comparison.

Note that the most important distinction in the power cord between the Anker and Amazon Commercial device shouldn't be the marginal difference in length, but rather the significant difference in the gauge of wiring. The Anker 18 AWG extension cord is basically your grandma's lamp cord wrapped in proper extension cord clothing (insulation). Even a minimal $1 lamp extension cord at Home Depot [homedepot.com] employs 16 AWG wire. The Amazon Commercial device steps that up to 14 AWG wire. This is particularly valuable in a home environment as it means the Amazon Commercial device is rated to the same 15A load that would match the rating for many residential receptacles and/or breakers to which it would be connected.

Good luck!

Yep, very little substance to be had from "frontpage" deals anymore. Been that way for YEARS now. There are still decent deals to be found in the forums, but you gotta be quick and they pop up FAR less than they did 10 years ago.

This site is just guerilla advertising 98% of the time anymore...
Something working in favor of Slickdeals users for now is that you can now identify staff postings more clearly with the staff badge. This doesn't fix the frontpage problem, but it does, with a few clicks, quickly help you identify some shill posts.

Good luck!

Given that the FTC has started getting more involved in online advertising, I suspect Slickdeals policy is keeping the official staff in line. That doesn't preclude vendor shills from jumping on... but I actually find that Slickdeals acts on many of those pretty quickly (given that the Slickdeals business model is incentivized to keep out freeloaders).

I'm happy that Slickdeals has survived since there are still some great deals out there... it's just definitely becoming a lot harder to love and recommend the site. I recall when FatWallet was a site for the hardcore, and Slickdeals was the easy to use deals site. Monetizing Slickdeals has ensured that they continue to have a life on the internet, but it has also made the general frontpage, previously a useful feature relative to other sites, something to be avoided.

Good luck!
Jon
