I hate the term "generator" with these things. It's a battery. It's not "generating" anything and will need to be recharged itself. It's a glorified UPS.

Yeah the fact that they call these generators at all is pretty deceptive in my opinion. They could be useful for a few extra hours of power for a computer, charging phones, or running a CPAP while camping for a night, but they don't have enough storage capacity to be really useful in an outage.

300W is only on the AC outlet I guess. Not sure what the output of the 12V out is, but a while ago I tried to run a compressor off the 12V which draws about 100W, it shut right off the second I slipped the compressor switch on.

I initially got excited about this one....but then logic started taking over. a bunch of power banks may be more "efficient" I think for folks like me who were thinking about future prepping for ice storms. I'm going to focus on the generator route personally.

I CAN though see the benefit of this for those who go camping or RVing or have a small office and want to ensure its staff is prepared for an outage.

Title led me to believe this item was solar powered. Looks like the solar panels are sold separately...
"Works with Maximum Power Point Tracking (MPPT) to get the maximum efficiency while solar charging. Connect a solar panel to the DC input port to give PowerHouse a recharge at up to 65W."

What's a good solar panel for this item? I'm fairly new to this I don't want to purchase the wrong solar panel.

The Anker power station uses non-standard DC7909 input and none of the millions of solar panels offer connectors. Good luck to finding a compatible adapter.

These types of devices are very situational ( I have one but got it for free ) imho the alternatives are...

Battery, inverter, charger for ~$130 from harbor freight with coupon that has over 400Wh of capacity, it's just not in as nice of a package.

A small generator like the sportsman 1000 on here frequently is ~$170 and can run for 6 hours at 50% load (~400w).

For reference pulling 200w which isn't much this device would not even last 2 hours.... I have heard of folks using these for cpap machines etc when camping but if you are car camping or backup for home ( not like you are going to backpack with this ) you could carry a larger setup like the one from harbor freight if it were situational. These also can't be taken on aircraft either checked or carry on because the battery is too large.

Just make sure to do the math and make sure it fits your needs Smilie

Actually DC7909 is not non-standard. The Bluetti AC50S has it. The Jackerys have it.
There is an adapter for it and it is even sold on Amazon. Surprise!

The interesting thing about this unit is that it can also charge via its USB-C port.
They claim that it can charge with the included AC adapter and an USB-C charger (not included), you can charge with 125W combined. That is pretty nifty.
