Ah, okay. How long was the "minimal interruption" for?

For me, actually it was around 7 hours in the early morning (1AM-8AM).
Better than a couple of days interruption in my opinion,

Ah, that would be ideal. Unfortunately, we'll be without Internet from midnight until 12PM the day of new service. Appreciate the responses

Do you simply ask them to waive the fee? Do you need to come up with an excuse for some reason? A few months ago, I tried explaining that it wasn't legal to charge equipment fees and I wanted to use my own router, but they were having none of it...
See don't go on the aggressive, just be nice and ask can you waive it, my friend next door just got it waived btw , if it's not working ask to speak to a supervisor

As always keep trying again with different channels Twitter, customer service line etc

You can't avoid their equipment for fiber.

i've got the gigabit fiber ATT 1000 plan at $49.99 per month ( with $10 equipment fee waived) just ask nicely after a month or two and they will remove the equipment fee , oh it includes HBO Max for free
Oh yeah can I get an exact price breakdown with the discounts?

Also I see 1gig fiber for $70 in Sacramento but it also says:
"Save $10 each month on your internet service when you bundle with an eligible wireless plan. + extra $5/mo. discount when you sign up for both AutoPay & paperless billing"
So is the $15 discount already included?

Thanks

Edit
For the second question the $70 price seems to already include the discount $10 + $5 as shown under ESTIMATED FUTURE BILL:
"MONTHLY PROMOTIONAL DISCOUNTS & ADJUSTMENTS
(These discounts are reflected in the amounts above.)

Save $10 each month on your internet service when you bundle with an eligible wireless plan.-$10.00

$5/mo. discount when you sign up for both AutoPay & paperless billing-$5.00"

Internet equipment fee $10
Waived equipment fee -$10

Hey, I'm your neighbor in Reseda, CA. I have had ATT fiber at 1000 up/down for the last 2 years and it is amazing, there were only a couple times when it was down but came back up, never had to call customer service type of deal. The 1000 up/down is stupid fast, download GBs of data in minutes.
I appreciate your response.

It appears that you can cancel and sign up under your own name. Trying to do that right now and the online chat agent did not say I cannot order it under the same account. I just have to cancel the current plan first.
The current plan will get cancelled only at the beginning of the next billing cycle.

Att intetnet at 25mbps!

This is a huge YMMV, as I think only one city in the nation has att fiber.
Nearly all of north Texas has or is getting att fiber installed as we speak

This sounded great until I read about installation:

Installation time
AT&T Fiber takes from 4-6 hours to be fully installed. This includes replacing existing copper wiring with new fiber lines.

Be careful guys. There will be no confirmation in email about gift cards. ATT gives hard time to honor the promotion. It is notorious for that.
Once my internet got connected and activated the next day I got 4 emails with confirmation codes for my reward cards. Sadly the website had issues for 3 week but once their reward site worked got the cards in a week.

Also important to note these cards expire 6 months from creation date.

I'm trying to close my account and open under my gf's name, but they're saying it will cause an interruption of service (no Internet) for a few days until we receive the new box…or they schedule a technician?

Transferring the current box to a new account is not possible according to both people I spoke to (call disconnected during first attempt), and none of these promos will apply if we do a "supersede" pr transfer of service to her name. We're both WFM, so not having Internet even for a day is unfortunately a deal breaker

Has anyone succeeded at pulling this off?
Depends on your area and cell provider but you may be able to use your cell as a hotspot. I've not tried what your suggesting but I've had my internet go down a couple of times over the years and it works OK for what I do with WFM. Cell can act as wifi or connect it via cord to a PC or some routers for full house coverage.
