FreedomPop is having a sale on their premium voice plans for new lines. All plans are 80% off for the first month. All plans have unlimited text and wifi calling. Cellular talk and data amounts are customizable. FreedomPop uses the AT&T network and should work with GSM Unlocked or AT&T Locked phones

An example deal is their 250 minute, 1GB LTE Data Plan for $2.99 after 30days you will be billed the normal $15 a month.

This is a great deal to test the AT&T network in your area or a cheap way to grab an AT&T number for port in deals.

One of the basic things they don't do is provide customer service(unless you pay them extra).Don't be surprised if you are not able to contact them through their phone or email. They sent you to the freedompop forum to find answers or their twitter. Just horrible service.

paid with PayPal checkout, disable autopay (didn't actually input any credit card info). just got the sim and activated the plan with a new number to try it out. but boy oh boy, speed is slow,, I'm talking about 4.4mb/s download....

Seems naive to think they will change their practices because they switched technology on their plans.
They took funds from me as well after I declined to be force-upgraded from free VOIP plan to $3.99/mo plan.

F this place. They took my deposit years ago for $80 that would be refunded after I returned my equipment, according to their own terms. When I proceeded to do so, they refused to give me back my money.

More dependable technology + different leadership = materially different experience.

Red Pocket acquired FP over two years ago. The forced upgrade didn't happen until a few months ago.

Even if you ignore all the screwups in that transition, an ethical company would've made it an "opt-in" instead of "opt-out."

So yes, there may be new leadership. But it's really the same crap, different pile.

Exactly. Forced upgrades happened under RP ownership. I believe they went this route so that users would have to cancel lines, which allowed them to invoke the no-refunds clause upon service cancellation in their ToS.

That's...not comforting in any way. I was with FP on a second phone (still have it actually) for a free plan, and the service used to be horrible. Now it's just poor/scammy but I'm careful not to give then a real CC number (thank you CapOne/Eno). Their entire revenue model is bait and switch; you have to be careful never to take the bait (like this offer).

I had RedPocket for an entire year on my main phone. Their customer service is terrible. Their tech support is nothing but bots, and CS agents who are less competent.

I will say this - they're better than Tracfone. But not by much.

I didn't agree for the change i.e. convert my old unused cancelled account to paid line. You did it by yourself.

You know what happened to Google when they tried to auto convert? They got penalty and eventually offered all the legacy users free account.
