Is this a good book to read from a fun point of view or will it leave a scar?

This is a solid novel. Not a fun point of view. The narrative is from a paranoid schizophrenic, but one that is observant of insights reality can sometimes provide.

Awesome book, in my top 5 without a doubt.

The scene with the bath towel left me sweating and I almost screamed. It takes a great writer to pack so much drama into such a simple scene.

If you've seen the Jack Nicholas movie, it's a good idea to read this. Kesey hated what they did to his book. (Chief is the narrator/protagonist? In the novel, so it does have a different slant. Although I think they're both masterpieces in different ways. They don't even teach this at the high school he's graduated from, anymore, because of a myriad of reasons. It's a shame. One of the few greats to graduate from Springfield Oregon.

I agree. Both genius for different reasons. One of the few books where I enjoyed the movie as much or more mostly based on amazing performances.

Thanks! I can't say I enjoyed the movie (very sad) but it was a great film. Look forward to reading the book.

2058 at the earliest based on the 2021 public domain release of The Great Gatsby (1925).

Movie was fantastic, but left me feeling like I got kicked in the gut. The book / movie is mainly why we now have homeless people living on the streets in every major city and many minor ones.

Nurse Ratchet in the movie left such an impression that I silently hated Kai Opaka in Deep Space 9 when I saw her years later.

I can think up a few jobs for the "Big Indian."
