I have one of these and it makes a terrific cup of coffee. Not a traditional pour-over per se, but definitely better than an automatic drip hands down! These are the same one's sold in Star Bucks and made by the same company, just without the Star Bucks branding.
I wish it wasn't plastic, but of course glass and ceramic would be more $$$.
This is plastic btw

It's not the same as the Oxo, you have to pour all the water in by hand with that brewer. It takes about 4 minutes of standing there with the kettle. With the Oxo you put all the water in the tank at once and walk away, it will drip down and brew automatically.

Is there a permanent filter instead of disposable one for this brew pour?
Yes, they have these in every asian supermarket. Also available online

plastic and hot water doesn't sound good. I found one like it in my stash, wish I had remembered during that 18hr power outage a month ago.

Yay, Prime just delivered more coffee, maybe I'll try out mine, never opened it.

If you are pressed for time and prefer pour over coffee this gadget is legit! Just fill the tank, it slow drips onto the grounds, and via a filter of your choice, pours through the opening into any cup. Meanwhile I can get myself ready for work, pack the kids lunch, etc... Just realised this sounds like an amazon review, but it really is one of my favorite coffee making purchases, ever!

So one pour instead of two for a single cup of coffee? Since I already have the aforementioned, I'll classify this as an "unnecessary gadget."

Look at this peasant only drinking one cup at a time.

Why do not add $5 to get Hario V60 size 2 with 4.8 rating stars at https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B0...KBV1&psc=1

Plastic is preferable for this use case. Better insulative properties than glass or ceramic so you get a better extraction and a better cup. Replaced my glass V60 with plastic and can attest to the performance improvement. Subjective and anecdotal, but that's all I can offer.

Is this thing really any different than one of these?
Yes. With that style, you have to do the pour-over yourself. While some people may prefer the control, it means blooming the grinds, then standing there with the kettle and slowly pouring for 3-4 minutes. Also, means you really need on of those goos-neck pour over kettles to best control the pour.

With the OXO one, you just pour hot water in, and it controls the pour over/drip. I don't know if the finished product is as good/better/worse, but the process is absolutely different, much simpler.

The Hario V60 is a great one -- better construction and makes consistently great coffee. But there's less pouring with this one. As others have said you pour everything all at once and walk away vs hovering

Just came to say I have this for 3 years for daily 2 cups of coffee and it's still going strong. It's plastic so I can't say anything about the BPA or micro plastics issue but I did try looking for a glass pour over similar to this and came up short. I have tried Chemex and clever but neither are as hassle free as this.
Need something like this:

Someone please correct me if I'm wrong, but, at least from an environmental standpoint, seems like plastic would be preferable here. It's more durable than glass or ceramic, and thus it will be a lot longer before it ends up in a landfill. I don't know if it affects the flavor at all, but I'd be very surprised if there's a noticeable difference.

Different use cases. A V60 requires proprietary filters, doesn't have a water tank, and works best with coffee ground specifically for a pour-over. I prefer a V60 for home use where I can use a gooseneck kettle and can use coffee than will benefit from the extra work of a pour over.

This OXO device is great for work environments where you likely aren't grinding coffee or boiling your own water, but you want a better cup than what's 'on tap' in the breakroom. Use cheap #2 filters, add 2 scoops of some pre-ground store-bought coffee, place over your coffee cup, and fill up the tank from the hot water dispenser of work's coffeemaker.
