No its dotdot for atmos. The ear level channels and height channels are interchangable, but the subwooofer ones are not. So 7.2 is seven channels (either ear level or height) and 2 subwoofer channels (really its just 1 split..but its marketing to call it .2). So this receiver can do 5.2.2 or 7.2.0. it cannot support 5.1.4 or 7.1.4 (5.1.4 would require a 9.1 receiver, and 7.1.4 would be an 11.1 channel receiver...those exist..but not in this price range).
Damn. I bought my 750h 5 months ago. I cooooould return it. But that's kind of a dick move for a perfectly working item
That's not how it works. People act like they're suddenly entitled to some to something when they pay the tiny annual fee (are you really of the mindset that the pitiful $60 actually covers the loss here?). Do you also act like you can intentionally wreck your cars because you pay for insurance?

If his device had broken 5 months ago and he returned it, that's one thing. But, to go and return it because there's suddenly a different device? "Come on, man." It's literally the reason why they changed the unlimited return policy to 90 days for electronics, because people were grossly taking advantage of it.

Also no analog out other then the two subwoofer outputs, I need AO to send signal to multichannel amplifier to power 3 other zones.
If you are trying power 3 external zones why in the heck are you even looking at this one? You are looking in the wrong price bracket.

So lost here. You have a sound bar. A receiver is to hook up individual non powered speakers. Not sure how you would 3ven get the Denon to send a signal to your sound bar. A very expensive HDMI switch box is all you might possibly get out of this.
This is exactly what I needed to hear. Thank you.

Interesting that so many here are having success returning items at Costco without packaging. I have read many other reports where the box or some ancillary item was missing and they wouldn't accept the return. So seems very much store-dependent/ymmv.

A couple questions for anyone who snagged one:
-does it have a Phono input?
-does it come with audessy calibration mic? (Or any indication if they've switched to a different calibration tool like Dirac?)

ETA: from what I found at the AVS link in the OP, looks like it does have Phono, but seemingly not calibration tools (someone in the thread mentioned higher end models for that, but not conclusive)

Feels like the majority purchasing this are Yamaha TSR-700 owners, myself included. I'm fed up with all of the input switching bugs and black screens on the TSR-700 almost a year later. I'm hoping Yamaha does come through and fixes it, but it will be a backup receiver at best.

As soon as I saw this surprise thread, I went down to Costco and they had about 12 s-760s left. Walked out with one.

Many thanks for posting!
Was about to ask which Yamaha receiver from Costco is giving you all that trouble. Sort of 'glad' to hear it's TSR-700 and not the older TSR-7850 - still very happy with it!

I've been looking for a new receiver to pair with the Klipsch Reference 5.1 speakers that regularly go on sale for $290. Currently have a ten year old Onkyo HTIB which sounds decent to me but I'm starting to have issues with the receiver. I would only use the receiver with a Fire Stick 4k, all of my audio/video is streamed. My TV only supports HDMI 2.0. This looks like a good deal but I feel the receiver may be overkill for my needs. Should I look at something cheaper?
When did the 5.1 reference go on sale that low? I see it listed at 449/499 at Costco

OP is not trying to power three external zones with this receiver. They want audio/analog outputs that would send audio to an existing multi-channel amplifier that powers the three zones.

I understand what he is wanting to do. He is still in the wrong price class.

Why do you say that? You have no idea what the OP's setup is. Perhaps the OP just has different rooms with speakers for ambient music. I would get this simple unit or something even cheaper for a garage/outdoor system that has separate zones to play ambient music while I'm lounging/working in my yard or working in the garage. Why should that require a high end unit?

Currently $289 at NewEgg. Was the same price on Adorama last I checked.

picked this up yesterday to replace the tsr-700, which i will be returning to costco. no one should feel bad about returning the tsr-700, it was sold as a hdmi 2.1 device ready for the ps5/xsx, just needed a firmware update to enable it. now its nearly a year later, no update because theres a hardware bug and we need to send it back to get fixed, but that program is also still to come with no logistic details. then they confirm that even after the hardware swap it will still only do half the bandwidth of hdmi 2.1 (24gbps, 48gbps is full hdmi 2.1 but for 4k tvs 40gbps is enough), so you'll need to downgrade the picture quality (chroma subsampling) to play PS5 (32gbps) or XSX(40gbps) at 4k/120. thats bs. i personally never had any issues with the tsr-700 otherwise, but the reason i bought it, hdmi 2.1 gaming support, it only does via a technical asterisk.

Please explain why you would need 125W/channel. What speakers are you driving, how far are you sitting from them and how loud do you need them to play? Honest question because most people have no clue as to how little power is actually required on a properly set up system.

Update: bought one in store. Plenty in stock at the moment. Going to hook it up to existing wired speakers in the new house we're moving into next week. The lady at checkout was like, "they still make these?" I'm pretty sure she thought it was a disc changer or something.

Also, I tried to enter the link for the manual provided on the outside of the box, and it's a dead link. They might not even have it up yet?

I saw there is no way to hook up an extra Amp, cuts your capabilities.
