No its dotdot for atmos. The ear level channels and height channels are interchangable, but the subwooofer ones are not. So 7.2 is seven channels (either ear level or height) and 2 subwoofer channels (really its just 1 split..but its marketing to call it .2). So this receiver can do 5.2.2 or 7.2.0. it cannot support 5.1.4 or 7.1.4 (5.1.4 would require a 9.1 receiver, and 7.1.4 would be an 11.1 channel receiver...those exist..but not in this price range).

That's not how it works. People act like they're suddenly entitled to some to something when they pay the tiny annual fee (are you really of the mindset that the pitiful $60 actually covers the loss here?). Do you also act like you can intentionally wreck your cars because you pay for insurance?

If his device had broken 5 months ago and he returned it, that's one thing. But, to go and return it because there's suddenly a different device? "Come on, man." It's literally the reason why they changed the unlimited return policy to 90 days for electronics, because people were grossly taking advantage of it.

The $40 off $250+ is online only coupon (at least the one I got was) so since this appears to just be in store I don't think you can use that coupoun for this item.

Home theater lightweight here, hoping for some help. I'm upgrading my old setup, starting with some def tech super towers (awesome) and Sony a80J 77" oled. I'm planning to get an xbox X as soon as I can get my hands on one. Now I have a 10 year old denon avr2310CI with some 100 watts per channel, etc. Can I continue to use this old receiver? or should I upgrade to this Denon S760H? I know that the new receiver does the pass through for 4K at 120 hz. But I expect the xbox x to be the only device connected to the TV, so couldn't I just connect it directly to the TV bypassing my old receiver, and then passing through optical audio from the a80J to the old receiver for audio?

the S760 seems to be 75 watts per channel compared the old 2310CI at 100 watts per channel. Would I be downgrading? Thanks in advance!!

You are almost in the same boat as me. I have an LG CX OLED and a 4311ci. In order to use the 4K stuff now I have to run through the TV and then do ARC back to the 4311ci. This technically works BUT You A)Don't have on screen volume adjustment visible and B)You are limited to maximum of Dolby Digital 5.1

Does it work like this? Sure, but I only did it in the first place this way because my 4311ci is only 1080p. I bought one of these units and will test it with my setup using eARC instead of ARC and see how it works. The fact this is the first real reasonably priced receiver with working 2.1 ports is the driver here, and given Costco return policy and extended warranty of 2 years and the scarcity of AVRs to begin with due to the chip shortages It would be worth the test in my opinion!

I called and was told several warehouses around San Diego had 20 in stock as of yesterday, picked one up at the San Marcos CA location last night. Will be returning the TSR-700 if all goes well with this Denon.

I personally dont think you'll notice a big difference between 75 watt and 100 watt, its something like 3 decibels difference.

Where the new equipment is needed for the XSX is particularly the HDMI 2.1 and the eARC. If you dont have a TV that supports HDMI 2.1 or eARC then this wont get you much. Obviously HDMI 2.1 gives you the 4k/120fps options. But in terms of sound, if you went to the TV first and used optical you wouldnt be able to get the best quality sound from the Xbox as optical is limited to lossy 5.1 (dts or dolby) or uncompressed stereo. While eARC can do uncompressed 7.1 or ATMOS from the TV to the receiver. So the only way to get HDMI 2.1 and the best audio to plug the XSX into the receiver first or go to the TV first but use eARC out.

I'm one of those using a decade old Denon lol. Still works with modern devices as it has 1080p, HDMI ports etc. These things are built well. How many people you know have AVRs in their setup. These things are not as mass manufactured as TVs or mass adopted as soundbars are. Also, There's no substantial change in the sound quality or sound amplification aspect, mainly the tech with audio-video codecs (Dolby Atmos, Vision or DTS:X) or HDMI tech (eARC, 4K, 8K etc). Add the latest WiFi or screen casting protocols or the voice command tech to the mix and you have a new product every year.

I have pre-wired 5.1 from builder and planning to setup home theater, i am in Costco and they have stock, before I buy just wanted to confirm if this will work with my setup or not. Thank you fro your help

Me, I'm super happy with my Yammy 7850, but also awaiting seeing all these Costco returns of TSR-700 become refurbs on Woot with swapped out HDMI boards in 6-9 months. Big Grin
