No its dotdot for atmos. The ear level channels and height channels are interchangable, but the subwooofer ones are not. So 7.2 is seven channels (either ear level or height) and 2 subwoofer channels (really its just 1 split..but its marketing to call it .2). So this receiver can do 5.2.2 or 7.2.0. it cannot support 5.1.4 or 7.1.4 (5.1.4 would require a 9.1 receiver, and 7.1.4 would be an 11.1 channel receiver...those exist..but not in this price range).
Damn. I bought my 750h 5 months ago. I cooooould return it. But that's kind of a dick move for a perfectly working item
That's not how it works. People act like they're suddenly entitled to some to something when they pay the tiny annual fee (are you really of the mindset that the pitiful $60 actually covers the loss here?). Do you also act like you can intentionally wreck your cars because you pay for insurance?

If his device had broken 5 months ago and he returned it, that's one thing. But, to go and return it because there's suddenly a different device? "Come on, man." It's literally the reason why they changed the unlimited return policy to 90 days for electronics, because people were grossly taking advantage of it.

I have the exact same dilemma.

Oh damn, I thought it was just me. I bought a 3310ci many years ago (and still have it).

I think I am a reasonably intelligent person, but for the life of me I could not understand the manual, the OSD or the onboard web utility. I had to resort to AVS Forum and BatPig's write up of the unit to get it configured correctly.

I love the power and sound of the Denon AVR. However, that experience is the one thing that is making me shy away from ever buying another Denon product.

I have a question about the volume. I have the S750H. I have to crank up the volume to a level between 50-60 to be able to enjoy the movies.
My hearing is fine, but I feel my previous receivers didn't have to work this hard. FYI, all my previous Denon receivers use decibels.
Is this normal?

This can depend a lot on your specific speakers, and what their OHM ratings are. I'm no audiophile, but I can tell you that speakers that have more resistance require a bigger Amp. I've also read that some amps and speakers are downright incompatible. Suggest googling on this topic to learn more.

Here's hoping they have enough stock to last 2-3 more weeks.

Planning to sign up for a new costco membership in two days (I believe signing up on the 1st will give me 13 months of membership since it expires end of the month the following year). With the current new signup promotion, that should give me $40 off $250 in a few weeks. Planning to purchase this AVR using that coupon. My nearest costco is a 100 miles away, so would hate to make the drive only to find it's not in stock.

S-960H-R as alternative is a refurbished unit, this is regular price for that condition. Just wanted to clarify for anyone opposed. Their refurbished are usually like new in my experience, and never had issue.

I just picked up a unit yesterday in Miami. The palette was full here too. I am replacing a ten year old flagship 4311ci. I am predominantly using it for eARC as my 2 2.1 Sources (AppleTV4K and Xbox Series X/PS5) are direct attached to the LG CX OLED and running audio back down to the 4311 via ARC, which is garbage since you lose the lossless formats. Hope it gets the job done!

So I have a PS5, and a OLED77GXPUA, and my receiver is old (at least 10 years) but works. I have a 5.1 surround sound system and to be honest am not really an audiophile...but WOULD like to at least make use of the new technology...do you think your common non-audio expert would notice a difference with something like this?

I think that you are almost in the same boat as I am with my old 4311ci. I would absolutely give it a try, plus you get the Costco warranty and return policy which makes it almost a no brainer Smilie
