No its dotdot for atmos. The ear level channels and height channels are interchangable, but the subwooofer ones are not. So 7.2 is seven channels (either ear level or height) and 2 subwoofer channels (really its just 1 split..but its marketing to call it .2). So this receiver can do 5.2.2 or 7.2.0. it cannot support 5.1.4 or 7.1.4 (5.1.4 would require a 9.1 receiver, and 7.1.4 would be an 11.1 channel receiver...those exist..but not in this price range).

Damn. I bought my 750h 5 months ago. I cooooould return it. But that's kind of a dick move for a perfectly working item

That's not how it works. People act like they're suddenly entitled to some to something when they pay the tiny annual fee (are you really of the mindset that the pitiful $60 actually covers the loss here?). Do you also act like you can intentionally wreck your cars because you pay for insurance?

If his device had broken 5 months ago and he returned it, that's one thing. But, to go and return it because there's suddenly a different device? "Come on, man." It's literally the reason why they changed the unlimited return policy to 90 days for electronics, because people were grossly taking advantage of it.

Me in 2011 when I got the 4311 vs me now is I'm not as picky and with kids I can't crank like I used to. Lol

Nope, lifetime return policy. the 90 day electronic policy is very specific on which electronics are included, receivers are not on that list. you can return the tsr-700.

75 watts is a bit anemic. Make sure you aren't running demanding towers, or low impedance speakers in a large room. Settings the crossover at 80-100Hz to the subwoofer will help.

The "fix" is still coming in "fall" according to Yamaha. The fix being a motherboard swap. However they have also confirmed that even after the motherboard swap it will only operate at 24gbps. So the tsr-700 will never have fully working hdmi 2.1 and you'll need to downsample the video quality to get a picture on the tv.

I was only able to do 5.2.2, since I had to use the side surround inputs for the Dolby Atmos speakers. This is my first experience using Dolby Atmos. This is with the 750H I purchased about a month ago. I can also notice a huge difference in db and quality using my XBox Series X Apps as the source over the eARC output from my TV/Apps.

Yeah this device does 7.2 or 5.2.2 cannot do 5.1.4. the 5.1.4 pack at Costco is kinda baffling as its clearly designed to be budget minded.. but since you need a 9.1 receiver to drive them fully and there arent really any budget minded 9.1 receivers...its kinda weird to think youd want to buy a $1000+ receiver and then drive super budget speakers. the 5.2.2 is the sweet spot as you can get the budget klipsch and a cheap 7.2 receiver for less than high end sound bars go for, so its a nice step up from the soundbar world.
