No its dotdot for atmos. The ear level channels and height channels are interchangable, but the subwooofer ones are not. So 7.2 is seven channels (either ear level or height) and 2 subwoofer channels (really its just 1 split..but its marketing to call it .2). So this receiver can do 5.2.2 or 7.2.0. it cannot support 5.1.4 or 7.1.4 (5.1.4 would require a 9.1 receiver, and 7.1.4 would be an 11.1 channel receiver...those exist..but not in this price range).

That's not how it works. People act like they're suddenly entitled to some to something when they pay the tiny annual fee (are you really of the mindset that the pitiful $60 actually covers the loss here?). Do you also act like you can intentionally wreck your cars because you pay for insurance?

If his device had broken 5 months ago and he returned it, that's one thing. But, to go and return it because there's suddenly a different device? "Come on, man." It's literally the reason why they changed the unlimited return policy to 90 days for electronics, because people were grossly taking advantage of it.

Lol. Many of the $1700 AVRs can't do 125. You need the 4700 for $2000. You Sir are at the Kia dealership complaining a Soul won't pull your 12 ton trailer. You are several leagues and catagories away anything near what you are looking for.

Super dated 30 year old speakers. Still they are 91db efficiency rated. That means 75 watts will drive 2 of them to 106 db (louder than any theater) at 10 feet. 125 watts will net you 3 extra db.

Wouldn't Yamaha be coming with a new model too? I would wait and compare Denon and Yamaha. I am sure, being a new model, they will be in stock.

Notta. They are fully aware. Costco and Sam's are intentionally very liberal in taking returns. You can't BUY the type of advertising they get day in and day out from people raving about their return policy. Im a man of many many hobbies. In all those groups forums reddits people buy from these clubs for the crazy liberal return policy and avoid direct from manufacturer. Brings in tons of customers this way. I can't get Costco parking lot without dropping $300. Costco loses over 100 million each year just on rotisserie chicken. They also subsidize gas. Half this entire thread is advertising their return policy. It is freaking genius! Costco is raking in cash and even able to pay all their employees a living wage.

I disagree that it is "abuse". Their policy is satisfaction guaranteed.

You are right, I guess it's pretty comparable to my old Denon. Thank you. I missed that part of the manual book.

If you setup with Audyssey it should be almost exactly the same. It calibrates the speakers to be zero in your room. Short of Audyssey calibrating to +12 (their max) no matter what Denon system you put in there 0 will be the same volume level. If no one has manually changed the settings (I add +2 DB to my sub after calibration) 0 at my house in my listing spot will be the same as your setup in your house. That's why it's called reference level.
