No its dotdot for atmos. The ear level channels and height channels are interchangable, but the subwooofer ones are not. So 7.2 is seven channels (either ear level or height) and 2 subwoofer channels (really its just 1 split..but its marketing to call it .2). So this receiver can do 5.2.2 or 7.2.0. it cannot support 5.1.4 or 7.1.4 (5.1.4 would require a 9.1 receiver, and 7.1.4 would be an 11.1 channel receiver...those exist..but not in this price range).

That's not how it works. People act like they're suddenly entitled to some to something when they pay the tiny annual fee (are you really of the mindset that the pitiful $60 actually covers the loss here?). Do you also act like you can intentionally wreck your cars because you pay for insurance?

If his device had broken 5 months ago and he returned it, that's one thing. But, to go and return it because there's suddenly a different device? "Come on, man." It's literally the reason why they changed the unlimited return policy to 90 days for electronics, because people were grossly taking advantage of it.

I feel like Costco only cares about the wireless systems.
My Costco stores in town only stock like 2 S750H in each store. So sad.

Maybe time has changed. Maybe we, receiver users, are obsolete and being replaced?
With all the new technology constantly coming out, thse AVR receivers are becoming 'obsolete' too quickly to be profitable, through no real fault of their own.

Trying to make a receiver that's future proofed and backwards compatible with every product from Apple, Sony, Google, Amazon, Sonos, pandora, Xbox, 8K, Bluetooths,HDMIs and 30 version of Dolby is impossible.
And then buyers want them to be low priced and family friendly.

I did the same thing like you. Bought the Klipsch 5.1 speakers for $289 on Wednesday, and went to local Costco to pick up a 760. I also have 4 celling spears so hopefully they can be a nice 7.1 set up. Should I use 4 celling speakers with 3 Klipsch speakers or 2 celling speakers with 5 Klipsch speakers?
I'd try the 2 ceiling and 5 klipsch. That would be a 5.1.2 setup. Now if you had a 9.1 receiver you can go 5.1.4 but just try and experiment with what sounds best for you. I hope someone can chime in on how good or bad the Klipsch Reference Theater Pack 5.1 Channel Surround Sound System is.

How does Atmos work on AV Receivers? This has 7 speaker outputs and 2 sub outputs, so does that mean it can do 7.2 surround or 5.2.2 Atmos surround max? The Klipsch 5.1.4 speakers listed at Costco would not work well then since there's nowhere to output the rear height speakers, correct? But man, I was looking at getting a soundbar, but a fully featured receiver like this is making me reconsider.

I recently purchased the The Klipsch 5.1.4 speakers listed at Costco. Would this not work with it at all or would it not work well?

You will need a 9.1 receiver for a 5.1.4 setup.

Nobody need chime in. There are at least half a dozen frontpage (or nearly so) threads on that set you can read up on if you did a simple search.

Does this have passed through four inputs when the receiver is off? I've been really looking to upgrade to a den in for my crappy Onkyo but that's a major feature I'd like so when I'm not using my Nvidia Shield with the surround sound speakers I'd like to audio pass-through through the TV

You should see if they'll do a price adjust. I forgot what the window is to do that, but I did that for a vacuum that went on sale a month later and got the difference.

To this point (external amp) does this AVR have pre-outs that allow for an external amp?
In the context of my discussion, which is in regards to subs, most all AVRs will have a sub pre-out. That the first number after the "." in the X.X.X channel designations. If you're talking about pre-outs for the satellite speakers, you'll need to read the manual or search for the images of the rear.

The bottom line matters for a lot of retailers now... everything is mostly driven by volume now, and people do not pay a price premium for most items.
Items like electronics do not have huge markup as they used to, they are now significantly competitively priced.
How do I know I used to work commission sales way back in the days when Circuit City existed. The price between cost, commission, sale, and MSRP was staggering... A store could take several hundreds off an item, pay a commission and still make great profit... highly doubt they can do that nowadays.

Cost of electronics have come down significantly especially compared to inflation and the value of today's dollar versus yesteryears'.
So yes retailers have become less pro-consumer (which IMO is needed to maintain a competitive price). And abusing any remaining consumer benefits, just increases the chance of those disappearing in the future.
Not true. Markups are still high. Call most any dealer and you can still get a significant price drop.

Do I need eARC for 5.1, or will ARC do?
No, you do not need eARC for 5.1.

Also, technically this will be a power downgrade (from 100W to 75W) if I move to this receiver. Not sure if it makes a huge difference but wondering if I should wait for 100W models.
You need double the power to increase the volume by 3dB. The difference between 75W and 100W is 1dB. Turn the volume up 1dB on your existing system and determine if it's a significant difference to you. Properly setup systems with subs will not even be using 20W/CH let alone 100W.

I have a pioneer elite VSX-LX102 that pisses me off with an annoying bug where it randomly tries to switch back to the TV input even when there's nothing plugged into that source.

Wondering if it's worth replacing with this.

I really hope they get a receiver that can do 9.2 or more at some point. That'd be sweet.

Don't hesitate to crank it up. There is circuitry that shuts off the unit if it gets too hot. Try it at higher volumes and if it doesn't shut off on you then you amp is fine. Oh make sure it's not in an enclosed cabinet without ample ventilation
So what do you do if your stand is an enclosed unit? Do you cut the back out?

Do you mean in general or with specific features or from Denon? There are 32 channel processors available for quite some time now if you have the coin. 16CH processors have recently come down to relatively affordable prices. If I'm not mistaken Denon's flagship does 13.
