If his device had broken 5 months ago and he returned it, that's one thing. But, to go and return it because there's suddenly a different device? "Come on, man." It's literally the reason why they changed the unlimited return policy to 90 days for electronics, because people were grossly taking advantage of it.

Hahahahahahahahah, he we go! No, that's totally cool! Glad to hear it. I was totally kicking myself for missing out on the Yamaha but then this Denon came along. I will probably go with this Denon.

Changing inputs was slow, changing codecs was slow, sometimes when you changed inputs the picture stayed black, so you'd have to keep switching back and forth inputs until it finally showed up. Dolby vision from shieldtv always resulted in a black screen. Arc had constant audio dropouts and was basically useless, which means you must deal with all of the screen blanking problems.
Honestly the thing was just a headache that was sitting next to my tv. I'd say it's worth maybe a quarter of its selling price, at which point i'd say "ok, at that price i can just put this dinky little machine in my study, though now i also need to buy speakers"
i think it does. Or rather, it sounds a bit brighter, which is my preference, and the signal to my subwoofer isn't getting a ground loop like it was with the yamaha, and the bass also feels a lot more convincing without needing to be louder.

Also is it possible to bi-amp the left and right front channels? I didn't notice it during the setup, so I'm guessing no.
Remember, it takes two times the power output (in watts) to increase the speaker's volume by 3 dB (slight increase in loudness level). Therefore, a 140W amp is capable of delivering 3 dB more sound pressure level than a 70W amp. Focus on high sensitivity speakers (+92 dB) instead of high powered amp.
Any mainstream AVR, at any price range, should be able to power most any speaker + sub setup in real world situations when set up properly.

A quality high current 70W amp will have better dynamic range, capable of driving difficult speakers (low impedance with complex crossover network) over a mainstream AVR. With proper coaching, most people with good hearing can differentiate between a mainstream AVR and a good amp when connected to a high resolution speaker.
A small to medium sized speaker will have difficulty reproducing sound below 70 Hz. To prevent subwoofer localization, one should use 50 Hz or below crossover. You want a good amp driving good front speakers down to 50 Hz less.
I use 40 Hz crossover for the sub and run the front speakers full range for music.
