Reviews weren't hot eh? It won't be long until the comments bubble over with all of the reviews. I don't want to land in hot water for giving my opinion but I think this kettle is cool and would fit me to a tea! The price is a little steep so I'll have to simmer on it a bit.
I was about to jump on this, but the reviews are not that hot for these products, check amazon and other sites before you buy, the cheap one get very hot on the outside when you try to pick it up
Can't comment directly on this product but let me tell you their customer service is atrocious. Currently you can't talk to a person live and I've been waiting a month to return a grinder which was sent DOA. After videos and 10+ emails still waiting.

Never lost power but we were without running water for a week, we were using bottled water for drinking and cooking and melting snow for flushing the toilet and such
I can't imagine losing running water that long. we've lost it for an entire day before because they were replacing the water main and man that sucked. Look into a Sawyer water filter, it filters bacteria and other contaminates just not viruses. You could use it as a gravity filter that way you would be able to let the snow melt, come up in temp a bit and then run it thru the filter. And you can use it when they issue a boil water notice.
It's a great unit. Ive used it to filter water from the streams in the mountains when out on adventures. We have one at the house attached to a bucket incase of an emergency.
you can also look at a battery powered camp shower. we have one for when we go camping and have used it to wash hands and dishes after BBQing at the park. used a bucket, water from the water fountain, and the battery powered camp shower.

don't expect to get live people in pandemic
This is a great little kettle, I picked one up at Walmart for $13 a few years ago that was marked as clearance. It gets water boiling in about 2 minutes. I'm not really a hot tea drinker but I've used it for hot chocolate, cider, ramen, and for heating water to clean with.
This past winter when the terrible ice storm came through it killed our water heater and this little guy was (almost literally) a life saver as it was the only way we could bath for a week and a half.
Here in California we are on the opposite end, if we are lucky we get a passing rain cloud once every billion years and blackouts due to massive heat waves. Crazy when you think about it.
If you're a Costco member, the warehouse is featuring a discount on a kettle with tea infuser for $29.99.

I've owned several Bodum products over the years, and in my experience, their quality has gone down quite a bit, and their customer service is indeed atrocious.
The prior IBIS electric kettle I owned had the plastic crack on the handle over time.
The current mini electric kettle I own was recalled due to the lid design causing steam burns. You have to hold the handle an inch lower than the top to avoid getting burned.
I've resolved to avoid Bodum products going forward. I'll most likely buy an OXO electric kettle in the future, but I'm rethinking the whole electric kettle thing and considering going with a stainless steel stovetop kettle.
I have had several of these similar kinds over the years and have finally settled down with the one that has the body completely made of glass. Much reliable and easy to clean.

I guess that was kind of my point. No one should have to do that. I don't expect live, simply decent service.
