Thanks for searching for me, but Giant PA, Giant of Carlisle, and Giant Eagle are three different grocery chains. I think the first two might be related, but Giant Eagle is not.
Sorry. I thought they are the same 😔

Moved from PA three years ago, but I had much better grocery deals there (Giant included, also Weis if you have those where you move to) than anything I can get where I am now in MN where I'm limited to Hy-Vee. Not sure if their policies are the same as they were three years ago, but I was able to get lots of free things with double coupons, load to card coupons, etc. Weis would automatically deduct a load to card as well as accept a paper coupon so those deals were great. And most stores would offer at least one freebie each week. Again, not sure if they still do this but I'm guessing you'll be able to find some good shopping deals if you end up moving there.
Thanks for the info! That sounds great. Were there more discussions on Giant and Weis on here when you lived there? Or was there another site/forum/blog that you followed? Or were you pretty much on your own to hunt down deals yourself?

Threads have really changed over the last few years. People used to share so very much; and at all hours of the day. Slowly things changed--stores closed, posters were chased off SD by anonymous bullies, deals lessened, store ownership through mergers, etc brought new philosophies; coupon fraud went rampant; plus more.

It's nice when people share, but some readers want to be spoon fed. It's a tougher game now. Thanks to all of you for being kind, sharing, and helping.

If you do Disney Insider codes, the following just worked for me. (The spellings are correct)

Isnt PA where they give you $ for finding expired products on shelf? And post coupon too. I have faith you will do OK.

Another thing I've noticed is that the grocery forum on SD rarely get any new members. Most of us have been here for a long time and even I who joined in 2012 looks like a newcomer compared to most of the active members here. I started out at FW in the early 2000's and moved over here after their grocery forum was deleted (I think there're a few of us here that came from FW although I haven't seen the others in a while). I'm sad to see long time members leave (and where do they go?) though. It's not like you just decide one day that you're going to quit couponing and go back and pay full price instead after years of couponing. I might take a break from CVS from time to time but once you start couponing it's very hard to quit.

Eckerd did, 20 years ago. I think it was a $5 GC for expired food? Giant Eagle still does post coupons up to 7 days I think. I haven't tried since the pandemic started though.

For me- couponing has changed SO MUCH. I no longer have access to coupons in the free local newspapers at the library (stopped with the pandemic). The Washington Post is $3.50 per copy or $100 per year - not sure I would get my money's worth as a yearly subscriber since there is only my DH & me. No pets and much of what I buy rarely has "good" coupons. More of the printable sites have disappeared too.

With the changes CVS is making to the beauty bucks program - I can see that going away for me. So much of what I bought in the past was donated to the shelter. I figured the 10% paid my tax - without that benefit & "good" coupons I can see that dwindling in the future.

I'm sure a lot of people follow something on IG or Facebook ( I don't--time and effort for me is too much trouble). I think many couponers don't know about this forum. I found it be accident and then lurked for a long time. I guess, somehow, we need to get the word out about SD options. I don't know what FW is.

I've never been a high roller but couponing has definitely been much more difficult in recent years. We also lost our library coupon bin during the pandemic. I used to dumpster dive but we lost our recycling program a few years ago due to lack of funding. Most good printables on c . com are now one print only. Our local newspaper from our tiny town has about half of coupons that are listed here. We also lost double coupons from both grocery chains here. I'm just looking for deals on what our family needs and that's all I'm asking for nowadays.

Fatwallet. I guess it's OK to spell it out now since the entire site was shut down a few years ago.

Yes, it was PA. Not $5, but when I lived there I got $3.50 ECB's all the time at CVS. Not sure if they still do it but it was ordered by the state's Attorney General because of all the complaints their office got about expired food products being sold at CVS.

As I recall, I was pretty much on my own. There may have been a Giant thread on here but it never got much traffic. Good luck if you make the move.

Im glad someone else is willing to speak up about this. Some of the bullies are well known members who chased off other posters. There were so many attacks a couple years back that people stopped posting altogether. Some of the walgreens threads became war zones over purchases. Even one of the nicest & biggest couponers stopped posting & randomly/rarely pops up now. People were being attacked over how much they buy & the really good deals they were getting. It even got personal where those same bullies was seeking out people's personal information in the attacks to harass them off SD. A person has to be mentally unstable to go that far over what someone else is buying. The purpose of this forum was to get deals & share deals but apparently there are those who forbid such things. I was & continue to be one of the victims of such attacks but it hasn't stopped me from posting. I just feel for those who decided it was best to leave because they felt nothing was done to prevent this.

So I believe those posters never quit couponing, they just chose to leave rather than deal (no pun intended) with mentally unstable people. And the spoon feeding is very true as we now have members who don't want to learn but want you to tell them how to get the deal every week. They ask the same questions every week in threads that has been answered since the beginning of the year. Plus they offer nothing in return at all. I stopped responding to those who do this. I mean for the most part, this forum is dead. I remember when the threads use to reach hundreds of replies and now you're lucky if you can get 40 in OT and the other threads are sporadic.
