My Purchase was 10/2 posted as 10/3. And no Cashback and the offer did NOT even go to the Redeemed offers after 9 days.
I think Citi probably is NOT honoring the GC spend on Bestbuy.
For the 2 people who got it, there BB offer moved from Enrolled to Redeemed within 2 days.
Nothing has happened to mine for 9 days and the offer is sitting in Enrolled and NOT redeemed.
It's a similar experience for people who purchased after 10/2. I think Citi caught the GC loophole and is likely NOT giving the $50 off now. I'm going to have $200 in Amazon GC at list price since those can't be returned.
I'd say people should spend $200 on merchandise and not Gift cards to make sure this deal works as per T&C.
My $200 online gift card purchase posted on 10/4. Showed up in the redeemed section on 10/9. http://imgur.com/a/Dcv7lGK
I think Amex spoiled us when it comes to CB offers. My experience with Chase, BofA and CITI has been "just wait, the CB will show up eventually"
The good news is that I haven't missed anything so far as long as the transaction was according to the T&Cs.
For me Chase and Amex lead the pack when it comes to cashback offers.
Quick confirmation.
They have spoiled me.
BoA doesn't do any email confirmation. And they are slow compared to Chase and Amex.
But they have worked the few times I have done the offers.
Don't know why some of you are so afraid about getting your $50. You will, at some point. On deals like these, especially if you're going the GC route, I'd never buy a GC for some place I didn't have the intention of spending that money anyway. $200 @ AMZN is a given, so do I just spend it direct, or take the extra step of buying a GC and probably getting $50 out of it? Is that even a question?
Because as per Terms and Conditions "Gift cards" are EXCLUDED from the offer.
It seems like some of the initial folks lucked out purchasing Amazon GCs.
Citi seems to have now closed the loophole and people are only getting a $50 credit if they purchased Merchandise and not gift cards.
The GCs that are excluded are the BestBuy gift cards, which are not handled by Best Buy if I remember correctly. All the others should be fine, as others mentioned here. Honestly, I don't even know if CITI has the ability to discern if the purchase was for a GC or a merchandise. Certainly not the case for other CB offers from Amex, Chase, etc.

No experience with Citi.

If you are so worried about the $50 credit, call Citi Bank now and demand to speak to a supervisor.
