Purchased gift cards weekly basis in Kroger/TomThumb with Amex card, Amex always counted for grocery stores bonus for me.
Even though, the T&C says "gift card" purchases are Excluded, but the AMEX has no easy way to know you checked out groceries with gift cards.
Examples of merchants* that accept the Card and where you can earn additional rewards include:
ALDI
FreshDirect
Gelson's
Hy-Vee
Kings Food Markets
Meijer
ShopRite
Smart & Final
Stop & Shop
Trader Joe's
Vons
Whole Foods
Winn-Dixie
*This is not a complete list.
Examples of merchants where you will NOT earn additional rewards include:
Specialty stores (e.g. bakeries, butchers, cheese shops, fish markets, liquor stores, wine shops, and other specialty food stores)
Superstores (e.g. Amazon, Target and Walmart)
Warehouse clubs (e.g. BJ's Club)
Convenience stores (e.g. 7Eleven)
Meal-kit delivery services (e.g. Blue Apron, Freshly, and Hello Fresh)

Yes. —-> "Excludes gasoline purchases and gift card purchases. Specialty Food Stores, Superstores, and Warehouse Clubs are not considered Supermarket stores". Offer is non-transferable

Level II and Level III Processing [cybersource.com]
Level 1 is basically just the whole amount
Level 2 includes above plus tax information (probably important for corp purchases)
Level 3 includes above plus details about the actual purchase, like quantities, SKU, descriptions, etc. AE doesn't have L3 per se but something equivalent (EDC)
But the bottom line is, I've used AE offers on several different cards to buy GC's (3rd party usually) and never had an issue getting an offer.

Kind of silly, since it's a Blue Cash Preferred (6% on groceries) that I only use on groceries. I would think they'd target this to people who don't normally use their AmEx on groceries.
I'll take the extra $30 though. ($10 a month for 3 months)
