not sure what this has to do with the sale. no one is asking you to fly or your opinion on flying. this form is for the deal.

Hi all, thanks for the advice. Started chat with costco.com online. Got to them within a minute, told them if they could give me code for 50$ off $500. They provided me with one. Bought two Southwest cards and got a 50$ off. That gives me a 1000$ southwest gift card for 850$

Further, since I am executive, I get 2% back from costco and I also get 2% from my credit card company which gives 34$.

Final deal: $816 for a 1000$ southwest card.
That's a 22% deal. If I assumed index funds give me 10% every year, I better use up these southwest credits within 2 years for a good ROI on my upfront loading of credits. I think I will.

n addition, you can earn $9 in Costco Executive Membership rewards (at 2%) plus any applicable credit card rewards.

If you can stack this with the $50 off $500 codes that they sometimes give out, you can get a $50 item essentially for free. Good deal nonetheless. Maybe a good option for PayPal Key with Chase Freedom.

that would work if you bought 2 or 1 + something else. But those 50 off 500 rarely come out

I agree they probably make back the 10% in unused funds. That's probably the premise behind all gift cards.

But I'm not sure what you mean by more options. Other airlines? Okay, true. Also a good premise.

But those of us that fly Southwest a lot don't have that worry. Plus I get better cash back here than buying tickets directly on my SW card. I don't need any more points.
