It is a major brand, just not a high-end one.

If you think Hisense isn't a major brand, then you are telling us exactly how much you know.

Personally, I would stick with major brands. Only way I would get this is with an extended warranty. I know many people who have bought Hisense in the past and were experiencing major issues with it a few months later. Good luck to all who have found one in stock.

Brought this from Costco Jan 2021 for $260. Serves my purposes well, still working fine.

Had another Hisense 42" for 8 years prior. Had no issues.

FYI - not sure on this model, but I have not been happy with the Hisense I got. The firmware updates are very slow to come (years in some cases) and have had a lot of issues with audio synch problems between my tv and two different sound bar's. (Mine is H9F, but H8F model also had these issues after I discovered the problem)

If your not planning to use external sound your likely fine - but for those of us that want more sound I would say away from this brand.

My girlfriend bought the same Hisense R6 from Costco in January 2021 also. By May it had distorted image. Past the Costco return period she called Hisense. They had her take pictures of the TV and then sent out a tech. Tech said she must have damaged somehow and refused to replace. Hisense stood behind the tech.

Frustrated, she ended up dumping at a e-waste recycle place and got a TCL 4 series instead which she has been very happy with..

I have a Hisense HG8 since Feb but mine has worked fine. I still think the TCL 6 series I bought 4 years earlier is better. I'm on the fence with Hisense right now although I've read great things about the U6G, U7G and U8G.

Moving from Hisense to TCL is a sideways move at best. No lesson learned there.

The lesson she learned is that her TCL works, she wasn't looking for better picture quality, just something reliable.

This is actually a darn good TV for the money.

Dolby Vision HDR and HDR10 for that price is excellent!!!

There are $2k TVs that don't support Dolby Vision.
