If you wanted to go big, nothing else has hit this print point, even though this has a 60hz panel, no hdmi 2.1 ports, no eARC, HDR brightness is in the 280 or lower range. Missing alot of gaming features if your looking for that. Here's the rtings

The Amazon reviews are scary, and occasionally halarious.

Not sure what reviews you're referring to because the ones for this TV on amazon are sparse and far from scary

TV experts, what's more important, size or quality?

I'm looking for a TV for my basement/office/man-cave. It will be used almost exclusively for movies and games. This is the top of my budget. I'll be sitting 8-9' away and I want at least a 65" screen.

For this price range, OLED is out, but I can probably find a quality 65" LED TV on sale with great Rtings reviews (8+ in every category), HDMI 2.1, VRR, etc. Or I can get this, mediocre performance, no 120Hz for next gen consoles, etc., but WOW! Look at that size!

I'm thinking the theatre-like wow-factor of a giant screen might overshadow all the shortcomings. Or would it make all the flaws that much more noticeable. Which would you take? A very good 65" LCD or a middling 85" one?

This one. I have the 65" equivalent and just upgraded the to the u8g and I can barely tell the difference (except the $1,000 premium).

Edit: the 120hz and the bright HDR of the u8g does highlight the biggest difference for next gen gaming but still a lot of games aren't 120hz yet. Guess you gotta decide if you'll value that over movies on a big ass screen. Recommend buying a Google tv stick, we're easily had for $20 for a while. Blows internal os away.

You posted the WRONG rating. This thread is for 85 inch model and your link is for the 65 inch model. My reply is a little late as the latest prices for this model is $1849 at both BB and Amazon so a $650 increase in price so at the time the price was certainly great!

Can someone explain why the 75" is $639.99.

Is it a totally different TV?
85" is probably too big for my living room.

Same set, different size. If you search this model with rtings you'll get the same exact review he posted. They've added comments about the 75/85 sets potentially having a few extra features (like local dimming) but no confirmation or further updates since they did their initial review.
