A 5700U in my HP (SD deal a couple of weeks ago) scored 64,000 Octane on Brave browser and AC plugged in and set to max performance.
On the other hand, when not plugged in it did ~25,000 Octane.
Geekbench 5.4 gave me about 1400 single core and 6700 multicore.
Running on the latest AMD drivers. And running Windows 10 LTSC.
Yes, it's soldered RAM but that is faster at least.
Known 'feature', they lower performance on battery, even if you set the Windows power profile to maximum performance, because it helps AMD cheat battery benchmarks by extending battery life, and no reviewers actually run performance benchmarks on battery to call out this behavior.

Windows Central is a Intel Biased Company and if you have followed their channel, you would have known it. In fact, they did not perform any tests and just took the words from some random comments rather than testing it to verify the claim. And almost all reviewers run the performance benchmarks in Battery mode and in literally every case, AMD Laptops are ahead of their comparable Intel counterparts. May be time for you to check some actual reviews. Jarrod's Tech and Notebookcheck.net are doing that for years now.
All these laptops perform at the top of the chart in battery power whereas still giving the best battery life and way way better than the Tiger Lake H laptops, sometimes even having smaller battery. There are plenty of other examples on that channel like HP Omen 15, HP Victus, Acer Nitro series. Go and check that out instead of relying on some random idiotic claims without any actual testing.
Major benefit of Intel vs AMD, for now, is Thunderbolt support.
If you're looking to get an external GPU, and let the laptop pretend to be a desktop / your primary machine, then Intel gives you that option.
If you're not looking at External GPU solutions, and whatever hardware is in the laptops is all you plan on using, AMD kicks Intel's butt.
I agree with you. If you are in Thunderbolt based setup which can be an external GPU dock or even some Thunderbolt based Multi-Monitor setup then Intel is a viable option. However, the issue in low powered U series Processors where Intel maxing out at just 4 cores vs AMD's Zen 3 based 6 or 8 Cores, does not even justified the Thunderbolt option, considering the huge performance gap and superior battery life.

I am not sure if you're gonna check those, so instead of debating, let me provide you those actual review links.
