Great bright lens at a nice price; includes VC (optical image stabilization) too, which Tamron is skimping out on these days, hoping we're too stupid to notice. Even if you're post-EF in the RF world, works great with a cheap adapter.

Actually that is very true. Whole camera market shrunk less than 1/20 and dslr got damaged too except for the professional gears.
I have several dslrs and sony 1" rx100. I ve just carried only my smartphone for the last summers trip finally. 😰

Our community has rated this post as helpful. If you agree, why not thank

I have this lens. It's a great street photography lens. Extremely creamy bokeh for its speed, better than its 35mm sibling and much better than Canon's EF 35mm f/2 IS USM. Resolving power is a step below the EF 35mm f/2 IS USM, but better than its 35mm sibling around the edges.

AF is not as sure-footed as OEM, and that's even after extensive tweaking with the lens console... so that's what keeps it from becoming a cult favorite. I do have to say again that I do really like its rendering characteristics.

We cannot do the tweaking for Mirrorless Canon cameras.

I mean if you don't need zoom, you don't do any postprocessing, and you're okay with extensive software intervention for things like low light performance and bokeh, sure. Smartphones are great general purpose casual devices and I use it extensively when traveling alongside my DSLR. There's just things smartphones will never be able to do or do well.

Cannot tell you how many "Why I'm going back to DSLR" articles written by professionals I've read. Really pisses me off because I'm really hoping the 5D iv drops in price lol

Maybe for people who don't care for photography other than for IG and whatnot.

Do you think anything commercial is being done with a smartphone? Wedding photography? Wildlife? Professional portraits?

Canon just released a $6,000 camera, on the heels of Sony releasing a $6,500 one.

Unless you meant _specifically_ DSLRs and not professional cameras in general, smartphones didn't kill anything. And even in the case of DSLRs, it wasn't the smartphones that killed them, it was the mirrorless cameras.

Saying smartphones killed DSLRs is like saying tablets killed PCs.

Lmao what are their reasons for going back? Mine is that I can score a d750 for $500 and a 24-70mm f2.8 for $565

that article title sounds like clickbait youtube stuff.

The people going back to dslr are the same people that would go back to film when dslrs came out.
