Is the 11-inch one with the XDR display? What do they call it?

How good of a deal is this? I want to pull the trigger for my wife. She wants a big iPad. But I'm an Android/Windows user and I have no clue on Apple products. It's confusing to me.

Should I wait for black Friday?

I would wait unless you think she will benefit from the pencil and enjoy the 11 inch size. I'd say it's worth it if you don't think she will care about any near-future improvements. Doubt this combo would get any cheaper this year.

For media consumption and casual browsing, the basic iPad will do. For light gaming and better creature comforts an iPad Air is great. You'll need an iPad Pro if you're using it for productivity.
iPad Air is on sale for $489 at Amazon right now and you can get a second Gen Apple Pencil for &109 frequently. You can save $200 and still have an iPad for most of your use cases.

It's interesting... A fully loaded iPad Mini with 256GB Wifi+5G costs as much as this thing. There is a clearly a premium for storage on Apple products.

This device is a bit lopsided. It has the hardware to last a decade but the amount of storage will quickly become a strain.

From the description, it looks like it comes with the keyboard too?

Does Sam's Club offer trial memberships?

I was interested in the new iPad Mini + Apple Pencil, but wondering if I should go for this instead.

The everyday street price for both items is $749 + $124, so if you're in the market for this exact setup, this isn't a bad deal. However, this isn't such an incredible deal that you should abandon all your other considerations and just buy first, think later. I'd go back and do some research first to make sure you know what your wife needs, as this could be overkill or insufficient, depending on her needs.

Sam's Club has a $45 egift card rebate for online when you open a membership for $45, the gift card might take too long to use for this but still net cost of $0. There is a SD thread on this , just dont have link

I already have my iMac for some light UX designing work. Also just bought the recently released mini 6. I want the iPad pro for "productivity" but I know don't need it. Ughhhh

And many productivity apps will only work with files saved on the internal storage.

You really need a narrow, creativity focused workflow for the pro to be a 'must'. It's an awesome bit of hardware but it's so absurdly overkill
