Nice. I got mine for 279. Overall I am happy with it.

onemesh helps boosting coverage, but speed is much worse than dedicated mesh. you can't mix and match it with deco mesh.

This thing is huge, about the size of a mini chromebook. super thick. Antennas are fixed and can't be adjusted.

My house is 2k sqft, single floor, router is in the center of the house, coverage is sufficient.

Bought this at launch for $300. It's decent. Got plenty of coverage from it. However, for the first 6 months or so I couldn't get the maximum speed from my provider (Spectrum), I was only getting less than half of it. Sometimes it worked after a reboot but only for a short time. I called the ISP to make sure it's not their fault. It wasn't. Then, about 6 months ago TP Link released a firmware update which appears to solve the problem. It's working fine since then. I highly recommend you apply the lastest firmware to get the best functionality.

Similar experience. I actually put my old AC2600 TP-Link router back in place for about 6 months because it simply performed better on my GbE FIOS. (Too lazy to complain - try to send back)

Then while looking up another issue on the TP-Link web site, I saw there was a recent firmware update so I put it back in place and tried it again. Much better. Not sure I see a huge difference in performance between the two routers, but it's at least working the way I expect it to.

I would wait unless you need one now.
Costco had this router for $200 and it was not "flying of the shelf"
The comments at the time were outdated kernel and security, so I bought the Asus AX88U.
Not sure if it improved from 2 years ago.

For the non believers and thumbs down

Eye-opener guidance at the time:

"The bottom line, however, is that you should research OEMs before purchasing your next router, and see what their track record is like with respect to security updates and firmware upgrades. Don't let attractive pricing take your eye of the ball, as this is a piece of hardware that you will likely be keeping around and connecting your devices and home to the internet with for years."

Who the fark is spending $250+ on a router? You think you're getting better range or speed? The FCC restricts power on a routers, you aren't getting any better range than a router that costs $80. If you have a big house, buy an extender.
This and other more expensive routers can also handle routing more devices. This one is a tri-band 12-stream router.

Also, extenders aren't good because they halve your wireless throughput.

How is the 88U? I'm debating between this and the 88U. Are you using Merlin firmware? How does the range compare between the two routers?

Will this suffice for a 2 story 2500 ft home where the router is in the bedroom upstairs?

I think it will serve good, plus Costco excellent return policy, you can always take it back if it doesn't meet your expectations.

These routers all the CPU's and handle the same amount of devices. The only difference is how many streams they have for simultaneous throughput. And yes an extender will halve your throughput, but at a certain range your throughput is way less than half. That's why people use them. All these fancy high speed modes only work if you are 3 feet from the router anyway.
Personally I find $75 routers don't have all the tunneling and software features I want, and I am not comfortable messing with custom firmware, but ymmv.
