Carbon wheels with rim bakes are not good for going down hill if you are not careful. Heat will toast your wheels.
Lol at people worrying about rim brake carbon rims for anything but little hills. I'm a 190 pound road racer with 7500 yearly miles on a set of carbon rims on rim brakes and I routinely ride Colorado mountains, including 14ers. Have never had a single issue. This is all just disc brake marketing propaganda.
You're worried about the longevity of rim brake carbon wheels like these Edcos, but you're also okay with buying no-name carbon wheels from generic vendors in China? There is a lot of skill and technology, and expense, that goes into building a durable, lightweight carbon wheel - I would not trust my life or my wallet to a no-name Ali Express carbon wheelset (with no warranty).

Also, these aren't that light??? Please name me one sub 1400 gram wheelset under $1,000. If 1400 grams "isn't that light," then you seem to be suggesting you can find a wheelset in, what, 1300 grams? What would you consider "acceptably light" for a carbon wheelset... and then please provide a link, I'm interested.

Are these actually disc? There seems to be a lot of differing information. I would guess these are rim brake.

Yea, appears to be rim breaks, no 6 bolt hole, or otherwise, noted. Not too bad priced for carbon wheel set.

Agree with above poster - unclear if these are for disc brakes. If you're in the market should call them to clarify first. They mention a brake track and also special brake pads in the description which would only be for rim brakes. Disc wheels don't need a brake track and don't need wheel-specific brake pads since the wheel has nothing to do with the braking service.

EDIT - these are disc brake, FYI! I just received mine, and the wheels are beautiful, but they're definitely disc brake hubs. Ugh, looks like PBK screwed up the description. I do not see an ITL brake track (used for rim braking) and I also did not receive any carbon brake pads, either. So, those of you looking for disc brake wheels, this is an amazing deal, but a warning to those that need rim brake (like me), these are definitely set up for disc brakes.

I will have to contact PBK to figure out the next steps.

That's a good price for some lightweight carbon wheels even if they are just rim brake.

Not that light for carbon. And not deep either. I'm not a fan of carbon for rims, personally. For the spec on these, if rather have aluminum Shamals. For $375 at PBK you can get Zondas.

I love Probikekit.com they have always had great prices. The only issue sometimes is their descriptions of aren't always clear like this one in regards to disc or rim brake wheels.

Wow... is PBK back? I switched to merlin cycles for the last 3 years but I've bought so much from PBK since 2010... Sram red groupset, lots of carbon fiber, and Sram wheels!!

Take that $600 and buy a bike with disc brakes
You talking about a used bike here? Even then a good bike with disc brakes will be over $600.

Yes... That orbea has a Shimano group set and the Reynolds come with a Shimano hub option.

I'd also check out the reviews for bike bling. They seem to say they have a bike in stock when they don't and will try to upsell you all the while taking forever to refund you your money
