I was really wanting to buy this light, but the fact that it can't be powered by an extension cord besides by battery is a big deal-breaker for me. I have the similar 12volt light from Milwaukee and it goes through batteries like crazy, but at least they give you the option to power it with an extension cord.

I've tried previously with different items and they've never done an adjustment for me. Always have to buy another and return one

I bought one a while back and it has been great. I have not noticed this issue on mine, but there are review comments on a design flaw where the plastic hinge can break.

I'm thinking about buying the m12 rocket light. What batteries are you using and how long do those last for you? I have 2 quantity of the 1.5ah batteries so not sure how long they would last….
I haven't used it long enough to really gauge the time, but I usually use my 4ah battery if I need to go cordless with it, and now I have a 6ah to use too. I've been using an extension cord for the most part when working on my car in the garage. The biggest thing I don't like about the Milwaukee M12 light is that if you don't pull the light out with enough force, it will collapse back down into the body. They don't have an actual locking mechanism to keep the thing telescoped out. I think they could have designed it a little better with camlocks like a camera tripod or something considering the price tag.

I would like to be able to point the light towards the ground. Is this possible while keeping it leveled?

It does point down at an angle. The light goes down until it touches the pole it is attached too. You should be able to back the light up while it's angled down to shine on what you need.

This is the same with Wal-Mart. Bought an item from them. (Was in process of shipping). They refused to adjust price which changed next day. U had to return to store. I think all of these mega stores should have 5 day price match

I have this light and like it. I have the M12 and like it too. The Dewalt (and suspiciously similar looking M18) are bigger and brighter.
I have the same lights plus the M18 version. Of all three, I use the M12 the most just due to size. But the Dewalt and M18 come in handy if I need something super bright. They are like baby stadium lights Big Grin

They look similar because they are made by the same OEM, who I'm pretty sure also makes lights for Makita. I'd bet you could actually swap some parts between the M18 and Dewalt 20v lights. Lighting seems to be one of the areas none of the tool companies wants to do 100% in house.

Mine was just delivered. I'm in love. I have the little DCL050 and it is handy but there have been instances where I wanted the light in a better position or brighter and this new light cannon (it is so huge) will be just what I need for when I need it.

Hey man, if you want the Milwaukee M12 Rocket, go get this deal from Home Depot. The two 6ah batteries alone make this deal worth it.

I think thats your problem right there. Even the high capacity m12 batteries, thats not a lot of power stored in there. A 12v battery at 6ah is 72 watt hours. A 20v battery at 6ah is 120 watt hours. Most of the m12 tools are coming with 2 or 4 ah batteries, thats 24 or 48 watt hours. Most of the 20v tools are coming with 4 or 5ah batteries, 80 or 100 watt hours. I use a 5ah battery in my dewalt 20v flashlight, it feels like it never runs out. That would be 4x the capacity of your standard 2ah m12 battery that most of the 12v tools come with. I love the compact m12 line but I wouldn't buy it for anything other than drivers, small power tools, basically only on tools that do NOT run continuously. Just not enough power in the batteries available for the line.
