If using for PS5, make sure to add a heat sink (it's recommended). I'll be skipping this one, waiting for the price drop on the heat sink edition: WDS100T1XHE (1TB).

I bought the T-Force one (twice, the first one didn't work 🤦)
But the speeds are advertised as higher and it was only $300. I might have to look into the device recycle though... Better name may have better support...

2tb vs 1tb would 2tb be overkill?
On a ps5 1tb 10 games give or take and 2tb around 20 games give or take on top of the 650gb that the eternal storage has after system files. That should get around 6 games. For a PC 2tb is not overkill.

Thanks for posting this deal, along with the comments about the Best Buy recycling deal. I "recycled" a non-name 8gb usb 2 drive for $51 credit. I have the Heatsink version of the 850 1tb ssd in my PS5 but gonna upgrade to this one since I am still in the return period. Just ordered a Heatsink off Amazon so I should be good.

So does the PS5 need the heatsink?
Definitely needs heatsink. I just installed samsung 980 in mine yesterday. They have cheap heatsinks at Amazon. Use the ps5 reddit for compatibility with heatsinks and various ssds. https://www.reddit.com/r/PS5/comm...egathread/

Hey guys so I was thinking about getting this https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B098W...UTF8&psc=1 but would this be better for the price? Don't know anything about this stuff. Can someone help me out? It's for adding to my ps5 storage.

I have some old digital camera memory cards can I just take 1 and get the coupon? Anyone know?

Hopefully this helps [theverge.com] even though it's a little detailed (tldr Digital Foundry tested the slowest drive they could find and it still worked well in the PS5). I can't speak for that drive in particular though - sorry.

Same price as last month fronpage deal. 7000mb/s good for your PS5.

$340 at Bestbuy Amazon and Walmart.

If you have Bestbuy Recycle coupon, you can order it instore for $290 shipped.

Otherwise, Discover has 5% cashback this quarter on Amazon and Walmart

https://www.bestbuy.com/site/wd-w...Id=6425637

1TB also reduced to $164. If you bought last week, you can ask for price match.

Looks to be different Model Number and SKU from previous $169.99 deal so doubt will refund without returning/rebuy.

I actually have the 500GB version of this and it is a very fast reliable boot drive. As far as that goes the blues are good boot drives also.Applause

The different versions were driving me insane! I bought WDBAUY0010BNC last week from BestBuy when it was on sale for $169.99. Then this one, WDBAPY0010BNC, is on sale for $5 less. I wasn't sure if $5 was worth the trouble to return so I had to find the difference. If anything to calm my OCD.

The only thing I found on differences is that WDBAUY0010BNC is a pure bare drive with NO pre-installed software. Whereas the WDBAPY0010BNC comes with pre-installed software to make it backward compatible with PCIe Gen3 and Gen2.

I guess it really comes down to what you need it for. I personally prefer no pre-installed software. I'm putting mine in a PS5 so I'll just stick with WDBAUY0010BNC (not the one listed here) since it's strictly for PCIe 4.0.

Note, the pre-installed software being referenced here is NOT the WD Dashboard.

Great heatsink but I'm glad I bought mine ahead of time. These had been $9.99 for at least a couple of years and now they've almost doubled in price due to demand.

I have this heatsink on my SN850 2TB and haven't had any heat problems in my PS5, even when moving data to it for a few hours.
