3....2....1 here comes the least helpful comment of the week suggesting someone is stupid for not buying an inverter generator for twice the cost, at half the wattage, and is NOT dual fuel.

I got one thanks. I'm just using it as a backup for the house. I just need it for the sump pump, furnace, fridge , tv and few lights. Having Dual fuel, electric start was what I was looking for. Thanks

I have the Champion 3600w INVERTER version of this. I paid a little more, but I bought it doing 'tax free' Emergency preparedness week (May? in Texas).

Its quiet and I'm happy with it. If you can wait, the tax savings in itself is a kind of discount.

Well that half price vs an inverter is only true if you don't nuke expensive electronics. In my case I could have bought 4 inverter gens with cost of a mini split burning up. Not everyone knows what you know and it's a helpful warning. I don't think anyone is dumb for getting this it has a use case. I think a friendly warning is useful.

Not sure about everyone else but I don't need a "friendly warning" (aka Slickdeals version of mansplaining) every time a generator is posted. If you are going to suggest a comparable product, perhaps suggest one that is even slightly comparable in terms of even a single spec or price point. Imagine you were looking for a work pickup truck capable of towing 10,000 pounds and carrying 6 people yet every unsolicited suggestion you get is screaming "buy a Chevy Bolt" citing zero of the reasons you mentioned....

Most people are not going to be powering "expensive electronics" or a 26 seer mini split (which is most likely 230v anyway...LOL) using a $400 generator and that whole "everything is going to be destroyed by a non-inverter generator" is also a complete exaggeration, bordering on urban legend spread by people who know little about electricity yet mindlessly repeat, even if they mean well. I blame the UPS industry personally. Think about it, computers are about as temperamental as any other electronics yet they aren't burning up in areas with regular brown-outs (and other forms of 'dirty power'), or by people using cheapo NON-"Pure Sine Wave" uninterruptible power supplies, like most companies on the planet.

P.S. If you are really so worried about your "expensive electronics" then you would NOT be running them on any form of portable generator.

It still stands you know what many others don't.

You didn't help anyone learn more nor did you offer a comparable product. That is the problem.

BTW, how are you going to run that 230v mini split on a 115v inverter generator? Inquiring minds would like to know Wink

I get what you're saying I was responding to your post that seemed a bit arrogant. Not a PSA

They make 120/240v open frame inverters that aren't that expensive. I bought the Wen 8750 last week for the $819. Watt per dollar is pretty close to this one. That may be a dumb metric I don't know. Anyway, I'm sure this gen has a use case. I'm pretty technical(IT) and the generator world was all new to me and mistakes were made. I think partially because it's not uncommon to impulse buy them in an emergency without research. You can choose to help others or make fun of them for not knowing better. It seemed like you were choosing the latter.

More like exhausted with all the know-it-all's crapping on every single generator post with useless comparisons that cost double and output half as many watts, plus projecting their single usage scenario is the only one for every other American. Also the folklore of non-inverter generators destroying time-space continuum is getting old to. Look at the number of likes vs dislikes on my first post. Probably not the only one here who feels the same.

Not $465 nor even close. My point.

Yep, not close to the same price but a great deal if that is what you need

Honestly if you are looking for a midsize to larger generator, that might be a very good number to hone in on.

I am helping others by not letting the peanut gallery suggest a Chevy Bolt when they actually actually came to buy a 3/4 ton pick up. For someone looking for a Chevy Bolt links to a Ford F350 would be equally useless. There are no conversations of pro's vs cons, just "buy an inverter or you are dumb." Seems like you are not choosing the former.

Fair enough. Your intentions were good. I say buy the Wen 4000 Watt Open Frame Inverter over this all day at $411 from HD. I believe inverters are more fuel efficient as well so depending on how much one plans to use, total cost of ownership could balance out or at least help some in the cost difference.

I'd agree with that statement as well.
