That's technically correct. However, I have both and I don't see much of a difference to be honest...if that helps.

Their two lines are Goodgrips (better, sold at BB&B and most nicer stores) and Softworks (sold at Target, Marshalls, Costco, others). These look like the higher end ones, but without a box, it's hard to confirm. But Macy's sell goodgrips stuff, so these are probably goodgrips too

For utensils, the softworks stuff is noticeably less good. Cheaper materials, basically self-made knockoffs. For the POP containers, they're VERY similar. Sizes are ever so slightly different for whatever reason, and some have rounded square buttons instead of circle. Beyond that, they're almost indistinguishable.

****That all being said, they recently updated the design on these. The lids are thinner which allows them to fit a little more, but they make a MUCH worse seal than the old ones. When they're full, you cannot lift the new ones by the lids. The lids just pull off when you try. They make a good enough seal on the shelf, but you could easily pick it up wrong and have it drop and spill. The older ones were much better, both goodgrips and softworks.

For reference, the Costco set is 9-piece and was $47.99 on sale. I ended up buying two sets and have been happy with them.

Don't waste your money on these. They do not keep anything fresh. I don't care what their reviews say, we have tried time and time again to put items in there and nothing stays fresh. Air always gets in.

I agree with you and have been disappointed by the seals on these. I have one that I've stored brown sugar in, and even used the stone moisture ring for the lid, and is certainly not air tight. The lid comes off when closed with just a gentle tug and you can see in the corners where it isn't sealing well.
they aren't vacuum seals, air will get in. the thought is that they would be better and more easily organized than plastic bags, etc.

the lids were never meant to support the weight of the container. How could it? The weight depends on the size of the container, how full it is and the density of the objects placed within. Air tightness of the seal isnt necessarily proportional to the shear strength of the seal.

these are nice for organization, but you can't expect them to defy physics. if you need a vacuum seal, get the food saver or the zwilling vacuum sealers.

great deal on alot of OXO stuff. The already slightly discounted prices + up to 40% off depending on how close you can get your basket to $50 makes a lot of the stuff over 50% off.

Placed 4 orders of $31-$33++ after coupon. Thx OP repped.

Honest question - I currently use much cheaper Glad and Rubbermaid containers (probably $1-3 each). Putting aside that these look MUCH better, how are they different? The price tag just seems so high there must be something I'm missing.
I can't speak to the other containers you have, but Oxo Pops are not bug-proof, and that's important to me, so I no longer use them.

We got a horrific pantry moth infestation once, and they got into all of the oxo pops. Pantry moth eggs come into your home in purchased grains or flours and such. If you don't freeze those products for two weeks upon buying them, you risk the dreaded pantry moth. They get through screw-on lids and ziploc bags, too.

Now, I only use glass clamp-lid jars that have the rubber gasket and plastic Tupperware that has a solid locking lid with rubber gasket. No button on top that allows space for creepy crawlers to enter.

Holy cow, I wasn't even aware that was a thing! How the hell can they get into ziploc bags?!

it seems more likely based on your own description that the eggs were likely auto-innoculated to other containers via cross contamination.

I can see chewing through a Ziploc bag, but not through hard plastic, or the silicone seal (if coming through the button entrance). I'm not saying it's impossible, I'm not an entomologist, but it doesn't seem likely.

it really sounds like I'm defending these, I'm really not. I don't care what anyone buys one way or the other, everyone will have their own preferences based on functionality, expense, and aesthetic.

I can see that being a possibility in some cases, but they definitely didn't cross contaminate across all of the containers I had. They emerged from a new bag of unopened flour and got into EVERYTHING. They are a nightmare and fit through the tiniest of spaces. After that, I did a lot of reading on the pops, and other people have had bugs get in them too, unfortunately. I wouldn't have given up on my collection of them otherwise since they're pricy.

Great deal. These containers are ideal for the kitchen and look new for a long time, even when used regularly. I love them.

Are the OXO Pop containers really worth the price? Conflicting reviews online whether they seal well.
My wife and I have these, and the conflicting reviews could be because of an "update" to these containers. Our older set has much thicker lids that don't look bad, but they are admittedly not as sleek in their design. However, they seal much better than the newer set we have that were redesigned with thinner lids.

The old set can be picked up by the lid without the lid coming free. The new set MIGHT get off the shelf if you picked it up by the lid, but then the lid would pop off mid-air causing a mess.

Is the product still good? Yes, we like both sets of the containers. We don't really have any complaints.

Here's a pretty thorough review of many different brands/styles:

https://www.reviewed.com/home-out...-on-amazon [reviewed.com]

I personally like that the OXO are harder plastic which seem to last longer and not show abrasions from scrubbing. They are also a clearer plastic so you can see what's inside and they come in tall shapes for things like pasta.

OXO Good Grips 10-Piece POP Container Set
Stash all your staples like flour, sugar, dried fruit, and nuts in the attractive clear Oxo Good Grips Pop containers and give your pantry shelves an instant upgrade. They're very stackable and come in everything from spice to spaghetti to bag of sugar sizes. It's kind of fun to press the big button in the lid to release the seal and open the lid. However, here's a warning: Pop didn't keep chips super crispy so it's best used for foods that are in heavy rotation and not for items that will sit for months unused or things like coffee that are highly susceptible to staling quickly. The only part that can safely go in the dishwasher is the gasket and it takes a little finagling to figure out how to put it back in place after cleaning.
..... Does not sound like they seal all that well in comparison to others.

perfect! have been on a hunt for these for the past year. usually at our local TJ Maxx or ROSS they're $8-$12 per OXO container, and they look dirty or scuffed. the off brands don't have the nice usability as oxo does, or feel tougher to open/close.

I too had a terrible invasion of the pantry moth. I bough some natural food whole wheat product in a thin plastic bag and the moths just exploded. I have been invested now for about 4 years but now just 1 or 2 pop up every month or so. . The first year I really did not know what was going on and how to deal with them. They real liked the cheerios and oatmeal products, but left my flour and corn products alone. They would eat thru the cardboard boxes and then eat thru the heavy plastic inner bag, Everything would soon get little holes in them or they would squeeze thru the smallest seam. I would even but items in my freezer or in my van on the coldest winter days. This would kill the moths but it would not kill their eggs or even the small grubs. As soon as the product was brought to room temp the grubs would start crawling around again. I finally had to go thru every item I had that was not in a can or jar, put every box or bag of food I had in a glass or heavy plastic container, like the Rubbermaid, and the rest in 3 or 4 plastic bags, and then put them in a heavy duty trash bag. 5 layers of plastic was just too much for the moths to eat thru all, but they would sure try. Even now whenever I buy oatmeal when I get home I immediately transfer it to these heavy plastic 1/2 quart nut containers that I save. .

Got 2 of the 5-Piece OXO Pop Food Storage Set. Had to pay for each of them in separate orders in order to get them both for $20 off. Nice deal. Thanks OP!
