For utensils, the softworks stuff is noticeably less good. Cheaper materials, basically self-made knockoffs. For the POP containers, they're VERY similar. Sizes are ever so slightly different for whatever reason, and some have rounded square buttons instead of circle. Beyond that, they're almost indistinguishable.
****That all being said, they recently updated the design on these. The lids are thinner which allows them to fit a little more, but they make a MUCH worse seal than the old ones. When they're full, you cannot lift the new ones by the lids. The lids just pull off when you try. They make a good enough seal on the shelf, but you could easily pick it up wrong and have it drop and spill. The older ones were much better, both goodgrips and softworks.

the lids were never meant to support the weight of the container. How could it? The weight depends on the size of the container, how full it is and the density of the objects placed within. Air tightness of the seal isnt necessarily proportional to the shear strength of the seal.
these are nice for organization, but you can't expect them to defy physics. if you need a vacuum seal, get the food saver or the zwilling vacuum sealers.

We got a horrific pantry moth infestation once, and they got into all of the oxo pops. Pantry moth eggs come into your home in purchased grains or flours and such. If you don't freeze those products for two weeks upon buying them, you risk the dreaded pantry moth. They get through screw-on lids and ziploc bags, too.
Now, I only use glass clamp-lid jars that have the rubber gasket and plastic Tupperware that has a solid locking lid with rubber gasket. No button on top that allows space for creepy crawlers to enter.

I can see chewing through a Ziploc bag, but not through hard plastic, or the silicone seal (if coming through the button entrance). I'm not saying it's impossible, I'm not an entomologist, but it doesn't seem likely.

My wife and I have these, and the conflicting reviews could be because of an "update" to these containers. Our older set has much thicker lids that don't look bad, but they are admittedly not as sleek in their design. However, they seal much better than the newer set we have that were redesigned with thinner lids.
The old set can be picked up by the lid without the lid coming free. The new set MIGHT get off the shelf if you picked it up by the lid, but then the lid would pop off mid-air causing a mess.
Is the product still good? Yes, we like both sets of the containers. We don't really have any complaints.

I personally like that the OXO are harder plastic which seem to last longer and not show abrasions from scrubbing. They are also a clearer plastic so you can see what's inside and they come in tall shapes for things like pasta.
Stash all your staples like flour, sugar, dried fruit, and nuts in the attractive clear Oxo Good Grips Pop containers and give your pantry shelves an instant upgrade. They're very stackable and come in everything from spice to spaghetti to bag of sugar sizes. It's kind of fun to press the big button in the lid to release the seal and open the lid. However, here's a warning: Pop didn't keep chips super crispy so it's best used for foods that are in heavy rotation and not for items that will sit for months unused or things like coffee that are highly susceptible to staling quickly. The only part that can safely go in the dishwasher is the gasket and it takes a little finagling to figure out how to put it back in place after cleaning.
