If you are seeing $109.99 instead of $89.99 try changing the pickup location. 2 Sam's within less than 10 miles from me had this for different prices for pickup.

For a 165lb guy, is a (max of) 40lb kettle bell enough for 99% of exercises?

Paid $150 for mine during quarantine (direct from Walmart, not one of their 3rd party sellers).

It works great for swings and any kind of squat, but is a little cumbersome for cleans, because of how huge it is.

I think it depends how fit you are. If you're doing swings, goblet squats, and some other stuff then 40 will eventually, if not already be too light. For single arm stuff it's prob fine.

If your goal is fitness, there are lots of compound movements (whole body) that you can do with a kettlebell and 40 lbs should be all that you ever need.

If you are into weight training then a 40lb kettlebell should add some variety and be a good part of a balanced workout plan.

If you are just into body building you may want to look elsewhere.

$89 here in Denver, CO. Just returned my $109 bells and picked these up at an even deeper discount. Thanks OP!

Your volume( (the amount of reps and sets) needs to increase.

If you can, supplement this with other workouts. (i.e., after some dumbell presses, immediately after do a set of triceps overhead presses with these...) something like that.

As your fitness goals and fitness regime may differ from myself and others, you just try to find what works for you and change it up after 3-4 months as your body does get "used to" exercises.

Kettle bells are pretty versatile as they can be used heavily during HIITS sessions.

Worth it. Great piece of gear that is well designed. I bought a lightly used one for this price.

I started "Simple & Sinister" training program. Basically you do 5 sets of 10 single-arm kettlebell swings for each arm, and then 10 turkish get ups.

I think most people can start at ~30 pounds (just to get the coordination down), I'm at 50 pounds right now, and it's definitely a challenge. The "simple" goal is 70 lb, but the "sinister" goal is 100 lb. hard to even imagine doing that at this point but i will continue. The book is on amazon for $15 and I recommend it if you would enjoy masculine humor and you're interested in doing kettlebell for a few months, i'm about 2 weeks in.

I guess my main point with this, is that this kettlebell isn't nearly big enough for the main exercise of kettlebell: the swing (unless you're a woman or 120 lb man). And even then I think you will outgrow it quickly, i'm only 2 weeks into this new workout, and with both hands 70 lb is ideal for me, and 50 lb is good for one arm. i guess this might be a good kettlebell if you want to learn the turkish getup, and want to start at a low weight and try to reach 40 lb. that would be legit actually.
