I want to jump on this. I think this would be a great CPU for an entry PC, especially the way things are with GPU's. May hold out for the 5600G. Damn decisions.

Still $299 at MicroCenter. This deal is $5 cheaper than Amazon, and $10 cheaper than Best Buy. Not sure how this shot to FP so quickly.

Thoughts from you SD'er on purchasing this or any CPU with Intel's 12-gen releasing next week? Obviously it won't likely be available for solo purchase immediately, but I'm assuming the price of other CPUs will drop a bit.

We can only speculate at this point, but if it's not urgent, then it might be worth the wait. Hard to say, considering how little prices of CPUs dropped over the past year (especially AMD). It will drop in price for sure, just a matter of how much & when.

MC is in store only and not close to everyone. I finally visited one and it was an awesome store, but 150 miles one-way wouldn't be worth the gas money saved.

Well yeah, that's going to be true with all regional retailers like Kroger, BJs, Tractor Supply, Frys (RIP) etc.

If I get this I'll need an ATX motherboard. My Gigabyte boards are still running after 10 years. I want that kind of reliability. I haven't read about boards in years and I do plan to continue to run Windows 7. Offer ends in 7 hours ... that's not cool.

Ryzen doesn't support Windows 7.

How are these 5xxxG series as HTPCs? How comparable are they against 1050/Ti? GT1030?

Should I sell my Vega and get this to upgrade my 1700x? Or should I just get a 5800x/5900x?

I don't game at all anymore. Is this a worthwhile upgrade just for productivity tasks?
