Cheapest I've seen for a while. I bought mine a couple months ago for $280+ tax. Newegg is not my favorite vendor, but if you're looking for this CPU, its a decent price.

Now I just need to find an inexpensive reliable MB to put my 3400G in to upgrade my OpenMediaVault / Plex server.
Thank you.

You'll lose some speed on NVME SSDs, if you'll really care will depend on workloads.... As to the 3050, I suppose the two might tie together once direct storage begins showing up in games where it'd potentially matter there.
Ryzen 5. 5600x. Spend the rest of the $ saved towards a GPU
define mid-range
What resolution/quality/fps are you targeting? Do you already have a GPU?
Speaking very broadly the 5600 (non-x) probably the best bang/buck for gaming presently on the AMD side, 10% cheaper for 1-3% less performance.... but the Intel side has the i5-12400 (or 12400F for even better bang/buck if you don't mind losing the iGPU)
And the intel is the faster chip of the two if all else were equal
