Cheapest I've seen for a while. I bought mine a couple months ago for $280+ tax. Newegg is not my favorite vendor, but if you're looking for this CPU, its a decent price.

With CPU prices coming back to normal, the built-in graphics are not for everyone, but still a nice CPU.

Great deal, I have been looking for a reasonable price for a while. I ordered one. I am not a gamer so graphics is pretty irrelevant to me. The extra cores over my current 3400G should speed up the virtuals I run for software development.

Now I just need to find an inexpensive reliable MB to put my 3400G in to upgrade my OpenMediaVault / Plex server.

Thank you.

I think you mean to say GPU prices are normalizing.

Expecting this to hit a 225$ Pricepoint. Similar trend to 5600x.

G models make you run pci express gen 3 right? Not that it matters much. I have an rtx 3050 and did a test and it didn't really make a difference in speed. It just would rule out anything that calls for pcie 4

Yup- PCIe 3.0 only
https://www.amd.com/en/products/a...en-7-5700g

You'll lose some speed on NVME SSDs, if you'll really care will depend on workloads.... As to the 3050, I suppose the two might tie together once direct storage begins showing up in games where it'd potentially matter there.

It could take forever to see AMD put 3D cache or HBM on its laptop/desktop APUs. But it looks like they will have 2-3x the "size" (compute units) by Phoenix (2023) or Strix Point (2024). If all you care about is 1080p, you won't need a discrete GPU.

Not a gamer. I wonder if anyone could comment on how well this 5700G handle dual 4K videos for productivity workloads, with tons of spreadsheets, coding, editing, AutoCAD, etc.

IGPU is pretty decent and supports up to 4 outputs at 4K, but I'm not sure what the motherboard support for that is.

Ryzen 5. 5600x. Spend the rest of the $ saved towards a GPU

define mid-range

What resolution/quality/fps are you targeting? Do you already have a GPU?

Speaking very broadly the 5600 (non-x) probably the best bang/buck for gaming presently on the AMD side, 10% cheaper for 1-3% less performance.... but the Intel side has the i5-12400 (or 12400F for even better bang/buck if you don't mind losing the iGPU)

And the intel is the faster chip of the two if all else were equal
