Good luck finding something to buy later with your rewards that is not horribly overpriced.

Rewards no longer roll as they used to many years ago for % back in rewards deals. Only for specific $$ back deals now.
Don't use rewards to purchase any % back in rewards deals. You will only earn rewards for any out-of-pocket you pay, after all discounts, coupons, rewards. The best trick is to price match something you will use for the rewards spending.

So how is $15 better than $0? Anti-slick.


Apparently, you don't know that they price match. Including Amazon, Walmart, other locals.
Worst case, you can buy stamps with rewards. Just do so on a sep purchase than anything earning rewards like this.

Duracell sucks.

Even less of a gift card if you do the deal in-store using a price match. Sometimes the 16 packs are often as low as $10-$11 on Amazon, or Walmart.
So it does depend on how you want to work it a little, but you have nailed the simplest way to put it if you don't participate in their recycling program.

Chat with them and they can credit you if it missed. They are pretty helpful.
Or get ahold of the rewards department after calling their customer service number.

The way you state this you just bought batteries with rewards at a fair price. Cool but that will get you nothing back in rewards. I hope I read it wrong. You only earn rewards on the amount you spend out-of-pocket (less tax), or true OD/OM GCs (not merchandise cards).

Definitely agree. The one thing that seems to make this worth it is printer ink. When I've checked their prices are in line with Amazon, Best Buy, etc. But outside of this I've not found anything else to buy at Office Depot.

It's a shame when companies have reward programs to increase loyalty only to turn off the customer. I've had pretty good luck with only one missed reward which they corrected but I did have to babysit it. If you walk in an Office Depot and look around its clear they will not make it. Feels like being in a Kmart 10 years ago.

Even massively overpriced ink ain't great unless you're doing archival photo prints. I've been buying Arthur Imaging cartridges for my Canon printer for years off Amazon. Excellent stuff for everyday printing, and I can still do the recycling deal at OD or Staples with it.
