Last two years, WM has been doing these promos but the price would be after GC. They would still charge you in installments the full price so you could pay it in full.
This would also be good on upgrades and not require unlimited. Also, their price before GC would be $50 higher than MSRP.
In 2019, I did one of these deals. GC came in within 4 weeks which was the terms for online, instead of 2 days for in-store. BUT, Verizon did not started to charge me for the installment plan until May of 2021.
In 2020, I did another of these deals. GC cam in within 2 days this time, but as of today, I still have not gotten an installment charge. As far as Verizon goes, I'm not in any payment plan.
Looks like this year it's not a gift card and looking at the fine print, it's not after credits either.
It's online under the BF Preview. Also, nothing abut other sizes. They do show Samsung A32 (AT&T) and Samsung A42 (Verizon) both for $99
What does the flyer mean when it says "with activation" -- is that with a new line only or on an existing line? If new line is required, then it is much worse than the free 12 mini deal with add-a-line directly from Verizon if you have an unlimited plan..
I skimmed through the fine print, and it says installment plan required, but does anyone know if you can pay it off early?
Is this like their recent previous deal with the iPhone 11 Pro Max, where it was $600, installment plan required, but you can pay it off in full the following day?

Frankly, the inflated MSRP and GC was always a scam of sorts and is only a good deal if you shop normally at Walmart/Sam's Club. Outright price reductions are much more honest and let you compare with Walmart's normally reduced carrier upgrade prices

As with all national retailer promotions, activation means processing an eligible upgrade on an existing line or activating a new line on your participating carrier

If I have an AT&T account that I was gonna cancel should I hold off or do you think there will be similar deals for T-Mobile in November
T-Mobile claims it will be in Walmart by Nov, but judging from this ad while Sprint is gone, T-Mobile is not yet in. If you want the deal 100% keep your AT&T account and upgrade before port out, if you want to take a gamble on the most dishonest carrier in the US, wait for T-Mobile to complete it's Sprint replacement in Walmart stores
After reading all the fine print seems like you save money on the phone at first then you get hit with all the fees and monthly payments:
1. Getting on the installment plan, credit approval needed and then cancelling.
2. Line Activation fee price ?? usually between $15-$45
3. Then a minimum of a $50 or $75 monthly unlimited plan for 5G service
Seems like buying a better phone the iPhone 13 mini (for $729) outright and then using it on the ATT prepaid plan might be about the same price after a year.
What am I missing here?

If I already have AT&T, can i just buy this, pay it off immediately and get it unlocked?
Yes, you can do that. You also may need to open the box and activate the phone or at&t won't allow you to unlock it. Although last year for a black friday deal Walmart shipped unlocked at&t phones (iphone 11) but I wouldn't count on that.
