Electric smokers are easy, quick, and good enough. It is for convenience. I use my electric smoker much more and more often than I ever do my other options. I can chuck in a pack of thighs and breasts turn a knob, insert a probe and come back 90 minutes later to great smoked chicken. I can put whole chicken or a turkey in and do the same in 4-9 hours, same or less overall effort as tossing in the oven but 1000x better result. Same with any meat. Other then putting in some more wood chips occasionally, that's it. Electric is not as smokey crusty and flavorful for some things but the simplicity gets you using it more and it's still great. In my opinion small poultry has less of a difference, large pork has a bigger difference and I'll still use my non electric offset at times for that.. People claiming electric is for newbies or down grading claiming your not experienced enough for a "real" smoker are full of it.. The major EXPERIENCE of smoking is knowing how to pick the meat, the prep, the spices, the rituals, the sauce, the temperature and timing. That applies across the board regardless of what you are using to actually cook/smoke or even if not smoking and using an oven..... A true wood/charcoal/pellet is icing on the cake if you have the time and/or money. Get an electric smoker and you will enjoy the outcome. Even cheap skinless boneless chicken, cheap store bought kalbasi and sausage, baked beans, and all of the traditions like ribs, brisket, shoulders etc... Toss in some pork ribs (I prefer st louis), follow some basic prep for smoking ribs online, it's 4-6 hours, the last 2 hours throw in some packaged kielbasa, brats, or similar and a pan of baked beans if you have room and have cornbread and South Carolina style sauce standing by and enjoy!!!!
I can't speak for this specific electric smoker.

Maybe not this one, but my Materbuilt, I do use a pellet tray instead of the chip tray,, gets me " that's the best barbecue I've ever had, and doesn't even need any sauce" all the time!

Fakespot grades this F.

Hmmm are you vetting the products you guys post or just going wild for internet points?

Definitely need a pellet tray or tube with these pellet grill/smokers. We have the Pit Boss Pro from lowes. I went from my charcoal smoker/grill to a pellet and I was not satified at all with the smoke flavor until we added the A-Maze-N smoke tube and I use pit boss charcoal pellets in the tube. Now, as you said its good smoke flavor. I gave my charcoal setup away.

ive had mixed results with this smoker and another electric one, some types/cuts of meat come out perfect and yet others finish terribly. ive found that i shy away from beef in total and stick to pork/chx/fish for the best results. the only beef ive found to be good in these smokers is brisket (im assuming because of the fat/meat ratio). im no master smoker, but these seem to be middle to lower end of the road when trying to use them regularly. hope this helps someone

SlickDeal pricing for sure! Pit Boss is great name for smokers.... but these reviews are really bad, so I'm hesitant.

I bought a Masterbuilt electric smoker this past spring. I use it WEEKLY. So damn easy, so delicious. Mine is a wood smoker (hint: get a cheap propane cooking torch to start the wood chips smoking - they will then smoke well even on lower temps). I'm buying one for my dad for Christmas and may get this one - great price. Nervous about reviews. But as far as those contemplating a digital electric smoker? I can't recommend more strongly.

Electric not as flavorful as pellet IMO.
That's everyone's opinion laugh out loud

But I don't think that's what was asked. Rather, if you're going electric for whatever reason, is this a good electric smoker?

While I would love a stick burner when I grow up, I am north of 50, an insulated electric smoker burning pellets or wood chips does a decent job. I use my electric smoker every Christmas to make prime rib slow and low. I use my Weber occasionally, my blackstone twice a month and my pit boss pellet grill three times a week. This is a great way to try smoking without investing a lot of money.

Yes, I use tube or tray in my electric and propane smokers. Much better control of the smoke and temperature.

I think you meant to reply to someone else. I didn't say anything about any random Amazon brands, or comparing Pit Boss to anything else.

I simply showed the Fakespot rating and how the reviews have been manipulated.

My pitboss auger (different model) died after one season. This might be okay for the price, but I decided that budget was not the solution for reliable good bbq. I went with a rectec (or recteq) 590. Up to you, but I would not risk another pitboss.

Wow just seen this one goes to 400 degrees! Wish my Materbuilt got that high.
I thought the purpose of smoking was "low and slow".

I have a Masterbuilt electric smoker and love that thing. We don't use it real often, but I didn't even eat BBQ before we got it, and now I really enjoy it. It cooks awesome chicken wings too, and I like corn on the cob in the smoker too. The only thing I don't like that I've tried are steaks. We smoked steaks and did a reverse sear on the grill at the end, but I didn't care for it.
