What is the best way to get this 13pro (T-mobile) by trading in my 12pro (AT&T locked)?
I was planning to pay off AT&T iPhone (~$500) and close AT&T account and then
Upgrade one of the T-Mobile lines I already got through Costco BOGO+BYOD.
Appreciate suggestions!
1. You gonna have to pay off ATT iPhone bal.
2. Then go to TMO & port your line over and BYOD to trade in.
3. TMO will then give you trade in value for your 12 Pro for opening new line.
It's pretty simple. Only thing is ATT will for sure ask you to pay off remaining bal.
Here is that thread: https://slickdeals.net/f/15286108-trade-in-apple-phone-get-200-off-apple-iphone-13-5g-t-mobile-smartphone-from-500-w-activation-free-store-pickup?v=1
but in short, from some of the questions I read, most of us in that deal had Tmobile iPhone 12's that were on EIP and we traded those in to Best Buy. As of yet, we haven't had any issues.
I personally traded in 3. I had 2 12's from the Mother's Day promo and another 12 from a different promo.
Absolutely no cracks if you are doing this at Best Buy. When I did a trade in for my 13 pro, at Best Buy, there was a tv screen with a promo that you could trade in damaged phones but ONLY if you were on Verizon.
Regarding stock, they really aren't basing on first come first serve. You could make an order today for a future date but they can push it back while a new customer can make a new order if they see if the item is in stock. I hope I made sense.
For example, I made an order on October 2nd for a 13 midnight. It was scheduled for the 15th but got pushed back for the 22nd. Last week, I noticed that another store had some in stock. I placed a new order, without cancelling the old order. I went to pick it up and after I left that store, I cancelled the older order.
"There was an issue adding this package to your Cart. It should only be temporary, but please wait a little while before clicking Try Again."
Going from 11 > 13 should feel like a decent upgrade in terms of speed and camera.
I also just bought the new MB Pro 16inch so wallet is on ice for a few weeks haha.
I wish these things can be so much more simplified but at the very least they are supporting trade ins all the way back to 2016; but they always did so i guess its just the super cycle or perhaps that its much easier for them to recycle back to apple since they made a shiny new machine to recycle all these components back (from an article they published around 4 years ago)

for example, if you have an iPhone 12 pro to trade in, Best Buy will give you $900. a base 13 pro 128gb costs $1,000
You are basically paying $100 plus tax for an upgrade. No eip, no bill credit.
From the last deal, the 13 pro was $900 and they gave me $800 for my 12 pro.
I paid $107 with tax for an upgrade
if you have older devices, it's not a great deal.

I think you have to place the order online since stores most likely won't have them in stock. So you are basically placing a backorder and waiting for them to ship to the store.

Great points. I have Magenta Plus as well as an Iphone 11 so it makes sense why it wouldn't be a great deal for me but does make sense for others. Thanks for the reply's
Is there any good way to trade in my 12 pro max for a 13 pro max and pay off the device early to drop the line in a year or less? It's 24 month device credit, right?

Last week I got a combination of promos... an instant $100 off, $215 trade in allowance, $105 trade in promotion - for a total of $420. Which curiously is exactly what the discount is worth in this promo. Kinda interesting that the promo was the effectively the same last week, but structured differently this week... And now its on the front page and getting attention. Same discount, different marketing.
Anyways... just as always, make sure they activate your new sim card successfully. Everything worked well for me.
