You're referencing the T-Mobile deal? There is indeed a standard process by which the line level credits are migrated to account level credits so that you can continue to receive them on a monthly basis.

To get this upgrade, account holder need to be there at store? I am in MN and my niece is on our plan who goes to college in Long Beach CA and she wanted take advantage of the promo by trading her iPhone8.

No. Just need last 4 dig of SSN on site. Activation is done through Best-buy store or online. (It's also free unless BB screws up and charges 10 bucks for the card)

Account holder needs to pick up and do the trade in in person in store - account holder signs a BB agreement for release of liability, statement of trade in ownership, and provides finger print for anti-theft tracking. They did ask me if I am account owner, for a driving license for ID and checked my ID, and wrote down the ID in their system.
This is to have track record to prevent theft.
This in California, maybe in other states BB is less careful. You can give your niece your last 4 digit of SSN, or speak to the BB sales person over phone when she gets in the store for a pickup. The online purchase was on my name and the phone was in the pickup area - I had to show my ID for the pick up release, and then the pick up guy didn't simply handle me the phone, but walked me to the phone sales reps where they first did the trade in, ID verification, agreement sign off and then gave me the phone.

Trade in value for iphone 8 on previous deal was only $200, but there was $100 off the top on every model. Total was effectively $300. (-100 sale -100 bonus -100 trade in)


The current deal is only $245 Trade in. (Not sure how they do this in terms of bonus value but the values definitely changed)

That's not true. Just need to "own" the phone.

Account holder only needs to provide last 4 SNN on best buys website. The trade in at store doesn't require anything else. Just to confirm you own the phone.

It's the same if you buy the phone outright without a trade in. You can enter info @ BB website and activate it through the BB site and swap sims. Account holder not needed.
