You're referencing the T-Mobile deal? There is indeed a standard process by which the line level credits are migrated to account level credits so that you can continue to receive them on a monthly basis.

Not full. U need to pay the remaining amount after your 11 Pro Max tradein + tax at BestBuy.

Sharing my experience in case it may help anyone:
  1. Original order: October 23rd (Pro Max - Sierra Blue - 128GB) > ETA was November 26th > BB received it November 8th. Canceled because BB was unable to activate my new T-Mobile account.
  2. Contacted T-Mobile directly and opened an account over the phone. Received/activated new SIM card in 1 day...reordered a new phone with BB that same day using the "upgrade" option.
  3. New order: November 12th (Pro Max - Gold - 128GB) > ETA was December 10th > pick-up notification November 17th > picked up phone today (November 18th)...took longer than expected because BB associate didn't know how to process a trade-in (~45 minutes). BB opened phone and put in new SIM, but when I got home, I put in my old SIM card and that worked.
  4. A few hours later, I contacted T-Force on Twitter and the associate submitted my unlock request! 😉

UPDATE: 2 days later...11/20 - Phone is officially unlocked! 🥳

What if my current iPhone 12 Pro on tmobile is halfway through monthly EIP installment payments with $500 remaining balance? Do I have to pay off this $500 first before I can take advantage of this Best Buy iPhone 13 promo?

Which part that you don't understand? You don't have to pay it off to do this deal. You will give your 12 to BB and get your 13 then pay the difference to BB. You're still paying your iphone 12 EIP to Tmo every month until it pay off. Tmo doesn't care what you do with your Iphone 12 as long you're paying it every month until $0 balance.

I had 3 iphones 12P that still under EIP and I traded it in for 3-13PM. Tmobile does not care what I did with it, as long I still paying for it which they bill me every month.

You have a contract with TM, you can go with contract installment or pay off now.
This bb deal has nothing to do with that contact.

Imagine you loose your 12, you would still owe TM the balance. Very simple
