So picked up the phone and rep wouldnt let me leave without activating it. So its now locked to t-mobile. But its activated on my friend's phone number which he is going to call t-mobile and switch it back to his phone. So my new phone will not "actively" used on a t-mobile line for 40 days. Is that a problem to get it unlocked? Or all they (t-mobile) want to do is wait 40 days after activating? We traded in a iPhone 12 pro and did the one-time payment option for the new 13 pro
You're asking too many unnecessary questions. Let me break it down for you how was my 10 trades work up to this point. Nothing change to the trade in process in term of paperwork.

1. Some reps had asked if I needed help activate the sim. I said NO. It's easy for me to do at home by going into Tmo account and update SIM. They just gave me the phone when I said that. The rest just handed me the phone without asking anything.

2. After getting the phone, you can do anything with it. Don't have to activate on Tmo if you don't need to.

3. I'm still using my old sim card with all the tradeins that I did. Basically I have 10 spare sims laying around after all that tradeins.

4. To get it unlock from Tmo, then you need to activate the phone with TM. So now TM see the IMEI in their system and process the unlock for you. Depends on the reps. Some reps will submit your request right away. Some reps say the phone need to be active for up to 40 days to get unlocked which is the standard unlock policy.

I am on Tmo one plan. Keep getting the "we're sorry there was an issue processing your request please try again later". Anyone successfully do it on T-Mobile one plan?
Yes, although not today

I requested T Force to I unlock my iPhone and as per them it's successful. But I see it's still Carrier SIM locked in settings. What should I do?

I did not steal or refuse to give my old phone. Just followed from beginning to end whatever bestbuy is asking. Even the footage shows the same. If employee made a mistake, they are most welcome to call me and I can return (That's why I said will wait for 14 days), else there is a statue of limitation for any transaction (Like the way BestBuy return policy)
You were aware that trading your phone was part of transaction. And even now you know that they didn.t take your phone by mistake and your only concern is if they won't go after your old/new phone when they find out about that.

It is like keeping your friends phone that he forgot at your place, because you were not trying actively to steal it.

What you are trying to do is 100% immoral, but you do you.

Give it couple hours or full day! If it still said sim locked after a full day, that means there was a mistake when they submitted the requested. Contact them back and they will resubmit it. Happen to me twice when they said it was successfully unlocked on their end but it still showed locked on my devices. It was unlocked within 2 days after they resubmitted it.

There's no need to call T-Mobile to swap. Just swap the SIM card back into your friend's phone. I'd recommend submitting a request to unlock through TForce before swapping the SIM out. Then you can probably leave it connected to WiFi and it will be unlocked in a few days.

Thank you guys. I tried searching before posting it was hard to find an answer. Appreciate the response!

One last question (i searched this one too) - if I order another phone thats not in stock for pickup but backordered for Dec 17 pickup, I lock the trade-in value ($975 for iPhone 12 pro max i will be turning in) as of now, correct? Its sounds like I should, but just making sure :/

The trade in is locked when you place the order; however, keep checking for stock in your area. I noticed 13P and 13PM show up each day from locations in my area but with like 1 or 2. Also don't be picky about the color if it shows up.

Just like grab and go when it shows up. Good luck huntingSmilie

Can I pay off the remaining balance in store after trade in? I'm an existing user. I want to use my Best Buy gift cards to pay the balance on the phone if possible.

I was afraid that he already paid off upfront, and now he has some BB gc and wanted to change the payment method when pickup. Or he chose financing then now wanted to pay it off with GC.
