You're referencing the T-Mobile deal? There is indeed a standard process by which the line level credits are migrated to account level credits so that you can continue to receive them on a monthly basis.

Good luck!

Here's my experience. I set out to get an iPhone 13 for my husband. After spending way too much time reading these SD threads, I ended up going to Costco to open up 2 lines that will get rebates of $300 each in about 3 months. The rep offered me the $20 plan without me even asking for it. It's supposed to be just talk & text, but seems to have data as well. They were out of iPhones so I went to a different Costco the next day. I opened up a 3rd $20 line and got 2 phones under their BOGO deal. The iPhone 13 was only $720 there, and I will be getting $720 back in about 2 months for the BOGO deal.

I wasn't going to get 2 phones but the deals were so good I couldn't resist. After all is said and done, including 3 months of service and $15 in SIM cards, I will have paid about $400 total for 2 iPhone 13s. It's all in rebates so I was very careful to make sure I submitted all of them correctly and will be tracking them. There was also an extra $100 rebate yesterday for opening a new line on cyber Monday. I've submitted that one too but didn't include it in my calculations since I'm not sure if I'll get that one.

I did need them to unlock one phone. I bought them yesterday, submitted a request to T-Force on Twitter this morning, and it's already unlocked. This allowed my husband to use his old SIM which still has 5 months of service left. I will be using the T-Mobile service for my phone. I think it's 3G data, but is working fine for me. I'm giving one of the other lines to my son.

I also got one of those $300 iPhone 12 minis from Walmart thinking I was going to trade it in toward a phone at BB, but since I ended up getting them at Costco, I just walked next door to the BB and traded it in for a $430 BB gift card instead.

All of this was surprisingly easy. Thanks to everyone here for helping me figure all of this out.

Just got back from trading in 1 straight talk 12 mini for a 13 mini. Took less than 10 minutes. Rep was nice. Didn't even open up the box this time

I have to see if I have an ATT SIM card laying around.

I remember about the ATT unlock portal from several years ago. One could easily buy prepaid ATT phones and get them unlocked via the portal. Then ATT restricted that. So I guess it's best to do this unlock asap because if they see a large amount of requests, they can possibly do the same

Thanks for the trip report. Is the catch that you need to stay with T-Mobile for a period of time?

Yes. My understanding is how ever long it takes to get all the rebates back. Probably 2 months, but I'm assuming 3. The $20 service is so cheap that I might consider keeping it. We'll see how the data is over time. I've only been on it 2 days.

That's awesome. To confirm, were you able to stack the T-Mobile BOGO and the $300x2 Costco cards? Couldn't quite tell from your writeup

Yes the activation policy for prepaid and postpaid is the same for ATT. As long as you're on Wifi during the initial activation the phone will lock to ATT.

Thank you as well. It was my understanding that the $300 BYOD cannot be combined with the B1G1 as one stipulation of the BYOD deal is that you cannot upgrade your line until the rebate processes. Did you circumvent that by opening a third line which is not subject to the BYOD rebate?

I haven't seen this specifically posted, but theoretically this should be possible right?

1. get 2 Walmart ST iPhone 12 minis
2. trade one in for BB gift card
3. order iPhone 13 at BB.com and use other as $630 trade in
4. use BB gift card to pay remaining balance
Yes you could do this. You basically save an additional ~$100 (assuming 330 with taxes for the IP12 mini)

Thanks for the reply, I had a extra 10% off offer with my BB credit card, so I took that instead. Will trade in one iPhone 12 mini for 13 Pro.

Others in the Costco threads seem to have successfully overlapped them, but I got the 3rd line just in case. They seem to be completely separate rebate systems (one is T-Mobile, the others is a separate company) so I think they will be processed completely independent of each other.

Surprisingly enough, my new lines were eligible for upgrade in their system, even though the T-Mobile rep told me they wouldn't be for a while.

You were particularly helpful with all of your answers to newbie questions like mine. worship
