You're referencing the T-Mobile deal? There is indeed a standard process by which the line level credits are migrated to account level credits so that you can continue to receive them on a monthly basis.

He inserted the sim and booted up. I should have persisted. All I had to say was it was a gift and it didnt register in my brain at that moment.

Here is a simple way to see it. Let say I used my friend # to make the purchase, and BB rep scanned the sim and activate that sim. That means that sim is activated on my friend # since I used his # to do the upgrade. Now his old sim isn't working anymore because the new sim has been updated.

Just did trade-in today in-store. Traded 12 mini from Walmart ST deal. Got $630 in credit toward Iphone 13. Was taxed only on difference ($169.99) for total of $183.xx out the door.

Told them my wife had her current t-mobile sim in a different card and that we didn't want to activate the phone since she'd lose service. Apparently they're able to activate with existing SIM card and so they did that and let me take the phone sealed (we're planning on sticking with T-mobile for a bit anyway after doing $300 BYOD at Costco). Said just to go to T-mobile to get 5G sim card if we wanted one.

what do you mean by started the phone? did you simply turn on the phone or did you go through the setup process ?

Here's what I did. I took out the nano SIM card from a sleeve from a prepaid device.
I put it in the 13. I turned on the 13. I connected to wifi. I went through the COMPLETE set up process. So I was at the home screen, settings etc....
It said sim carrier locked

Then I went to the att device portal.
I hit *#06* and it showed the imei. I wrote this imei number down in the portal and submitted. Once you get the email, click on the link to confirm the unlock.
it should be unlocked within a minute

also, I noticed that the imei on the box has 1 extra LAST number. Maybe that's your error? I'm not sure what else to tell you.

Sorry you had a bad experience. I decided to give this a try with a very old, never-activated ATT Prepaid SIM. It pretty much worked as described - I made sure to try to be on WiFi by setting up the new phone from an existing iPhone. There are two screens to complete even if you say "not an ATT Customer." The "NO Sim Restrictions" appeared in the new iPhone 13 within 60 seconds of me clicking my "confirm your unlock request" in my inbox. Thanks to those who took the risk of testing out ahead of time!

you have a tmobile account? Simply contact tforce on twitter or Facebook.

did you order online or instore? value dropped by $30 online, curious if its still giving $630 for instore orders
