You're referencing the T-Mobile deal? There is indeed a standard process by which the line level credits are migrated to account level credits so that you can continue to receive them on a monthly basis.

Good luck!

I got two iphone 13 and both of them are not opened but on tmobile site it shows locked status. I checked my current unlock status and then check a phone not in my account and input IMEI to check. Last time my phones showed as unknown device on tmo. Does it mean it is locked to tmo even thought it is not taken out of box and somehow rep activated it. I am thinking if i should try att unlock or not.

Would one of you SD'ers with good experience please update the wiki with what to do when you go into the BB (if you order online and/or if you order in-store).

That part is mystery without reading through the 4000+ messages in this thread.

I see some people are charged higher taxes if they order online, so I will do my two trade-ins in store at the same time.
Someone responded to you saying this was only relevant to CA, I'm not sure that's the case. I just tried to do this online in NC (specfically trading in a 12 mini for a 13 regular) and the taxes were 43.xx online. Trade was 630, new 13 was 799, store pickup was free, and taxes 43.50 (not sure how they calculated that number as tax here is 7.25% and that number is not 7.25 of anything...

I wonder if I go in store and do everything there (without anything done online) will I pay only tax on the $169 that I'm actually paying out of pocket, i.e. $12.25 in taxes??

Thanks for any help you can provide! (or anyone that reads this)

I know that, but when the rep said you have to reset your phone for it to unlock. Just tell them you did and still not working.

If both phones haven't seen the sim card yet. That means it still under FLEX. Tmo account sometime it misleading. I have note 20U that I bought from Samsung and it still shows locked even though it got unlocked like a year ago. My 13PM said unknown devices; but it was unlocked few days after I got the phone.

iPhone 13 unlock, at least those done via request from T-Mobile, do not need a phone reset, as they will automatically show No Sim Restrictions when unlocked. I did 6 so far, all did it the same way. Reset does nothing as far as unlocking it, and that is coming from a Tforce rep who submitted all of my iPhone unlocks. This was not the case for my S21 for example. I had to restart it but not reset it. iPhone 13 it just magically happens automatically.

Please try it and report back to us. Without someone actually doing it. Then we have no data points.

I'm not on a Tmobile plan but would like to trade-in and unlock using the ATT trick.

Nearby stores are all out of stock so I need to place an order online.

1. which options do I need to choose? activate today -> I want a new phone number->trade in-> choose any plan ?

2. I'm trading in the total wireless phone, should I choose the "unlocked" option?

3. Do I need to cancel any Tmobile plan after canceling it?

Thanks for the reminder but that requires physically inserting the T-Mobile SIM into the new iPhone, correct? Simply scanning the T-Mobile SIM wouldn't activate it or would it? All my iPhone 13's are still sealed and SIM cards haven't been used/removed.
Correct. Scanning won't do anything.

I did it over message, if you download the app and chat with them, tell them you have an international trip and provide phone numbers and IMEIs.
They told me they would temporarily unlock them, but I read somewhere that there is no temporary unlock for Apple devices.
