You're referencing the T-Mobile deal? There is indeed a standard process by which the line level credits are migrated to account level credits so that you can continue to receive them on a monthly basis.

I'm not on a Tmobile plan but would like to trade-in and unlock using the ATT trick.

Nearby stores are all out of stock so I need to place an order online.

1. which options do I need to choose? activate today -> I want a new phone number->trade in-> choose any plan ?

2. Do I need to cancel any Tmobile plan after canceling it?

I just picked up my T-Mobile iPhone 13 and the BB salesperson did not activate it in store & did not open/insert the SIM card. Does this mean the phone is unlocked or ... ?

No, you need to unlock with att method. Get a unactivated att SIM card then activate it

The guy at BestBuy charged me $10 for a T-mobile sim card when I did trade in today. He insisted he couldn't continue without selling me this sim card. I plan to do another trade in next week. Any thing I can do or say to avoid wasting $10 on a useless sim card?

For trade in that I paid for in store, they tried to charge me for a SIM card, I told them I didn't want it and to move the SIM card from my old phone. They did and waived the $10.

For my other trade in that I paid for online and picked up in store, there was never a $10 SIM card charge, but they gave me a new SIM card anyway when I picked up. They claimed to have activated the new SIM card, but now it's 7 hours later and my old SIM card is still working, so I don't know what's up with the new SIM card they gave me.

The sale guy wasn't nice as yours. I told him I don't need that sim card but he refused. He did scan the new sim card during check out. After 2 mins, my old sim card was deactivated and I had to insert the new sim card to my phone.

Yes, I had applied for a T-Mobile account beforehand a couple of weeks ago as the phone was not available in store at the time
