You're referencing the T-Mobile deal? There is indeed a standard process by which the line level credits are migrated to account level credits so that you can continue to receive them on a monthly basis.

Good luck!

I will be totally new to T-mobile. In order to choose upgrade I need to provide a t-mobile number. So is it a must I sign up for T-mobile to place an online order? If yes, does the Costco $300 promotion still available and would that be the best way to get a t-mobile number for putting in the upgrade field?

I understand this may have been discussed multiple times but trying to avoid having to go through the 5700+ posts. I did look at the wiki and the first question's answer says I don't need to have the number until I trade in. So I thought I can sign up for a number when I go to pick up the phone. Is that not the case? Would really appreciate any help.
$300 Costco BYOD promo is still active.

Can I still use the activated t-mobile sim after the unactivated at&t sim card method failed since at&t sim was inserted first?

Got a new AT&T sim from Apple store and used it to unlock the iPhone 13 Pro I picked from Best Buy using the method in the wiki. So the method is still working.

wondering do old att go SIM (prepaid) with work ?
I used a very old prepaid SIM without difficulty - NOTE: it was NEVER activated - just laying in the box for years.

I made a brand new account with Tmobile. New number, different email, everything different except that me and my ssn are the same.
No problem for me if it's locked on Visible now, I want to keep my Visible plan. So does this mean that I can cancel the tmobile?
Yes - if the new account does not automatically cancel for failure to activate then there is nothing to stop you from calling TMo to cancel. There is discussion on the Costco thread that you may be blocked from TMo promotions if you have lines/accounts cancelled within past 90 days.

Thanks everyone for reporting the ATT trick is still working. So far so good. I'm still waiting for my PM order to come. ETA is still 12/17
The reason I want to go ATT unlock route is I do a 30-month payment (no interest) for my 2 phones and I know there is no way I can get T-mobile/T-force to unlock it for me. They will ask me to pay them off first.
I'm a T-mobile user and plan to stick with them for few years so I definitely want to take advantage of the 30-month interest free payment plan.
My only big concern is the ATT unlock trick does not work then I will be really stuck with ATT.
Another question in mind is "do I need to prove ATT that the phone is paid off?"
I took the risk of unlocking with ATT prepaid SIM at high speed knowing I have family who are long-term ATT and can use that same portal with their account info to request unlock. Do you have any acquaintances with access? Others on this thread said they would go back to Best Buy and say "My SIM doesn't work" and have them exchange the product. I don't think you'd be stuck with a total loss if you try a never-activated ATT SIM and the high-speed unlock method.

You need to check the settings of the iPhone to see if it is now "SIM restricted" to ATT. Failing once is not a total failure. Try again with the unactivated ATT SIM using different phone numbers and e-mails on the portal. I used a Google Voice number as the callback and one of many e-mail addresses and things went RIGHT through upon clicking the confirmation e-mail.

ANY account can choose this "upgrade" without burning the ACTUAL upgrade privileges on the underlying TMo account. Try friends or family to see if they can help you out, assuming you don't need a ridiculous number of trade-ins.

Tried it today after ~24hrs with no Att account on Att unlock portal and it IMMEDIATELY (not from email) says the unlock cant be completed since the info entered was not associated with an Att account. Now tried it again WITH ATT POSTPAID account and it worked. To think of it the 1st attempt after inserting the Att active postpaid sim I did not go through Apple activation, all I did was put it in then used the unlock portal and it failed so maybe this 1st attempt initiated their awareness that caused it to require actual Att account.

Now 1st attempt for my 2nd 13pm inserted Att active postpaid sim and went through activation and got to home screen. Then used Att unlock portal w/o entering Att account info and it unlocked with a few minutes.

Now hopefully when I get a 3rd 13pm anyone want me to test an Att active postpaid sim differently?

Also, after I am done with trading in:
1) Then when I want to close the Tmobile account/line is there a prorated refund on the $20 unl talk/text line?

2) If there are future Tmobile trade in deals that require an account/line would I be able to do it again?

Thanks
T-Mobile doesn't offer a prorated refund - you have to pay for the whole month's service. (You can take advantage of TM Tuesday offers and the free year of Paramount+ (with ads) to recoup some of the value.)

Sounds good. Thanks Dan.
I went to Apple store and they told me they ran out of ATT sim card (must be some SD effect).
I ordered one from MS and waiting for it to ship.
I do have some friends who use ATT and do not mind to ask to unlock for me. I'm just worried that somehow the phone IMEI is not recognized in their (ATT) system when unlock request.
Technically there are still 8 more days for me to receive my 2 PMs. I check BB website daily and ETA is still 12/17. I still hope they come as expected (no delay, no cancel).

When this so-called "error" was first reported the suggestion was to pull the IMEI from the phone itself instead of reading it off the box - as though the box had one too many digits for IMEI. I cannot be sure. I know that I typed IMEI off the box top and my request as a non-ATT customer went through once I navigated the page carefully enough to enter all requested data.

Don't panic - you will find a way

Which MVNO? If you only opened a TMo account to do the trade in just order again on someone else's account and choose "activate today" so they won't have to worry about payments. Their true account-level "upgrade" privilege does NOT get burned by this $200 TMo incentive. If you fail to pick up the existing order they will just return it to the shelf in six days.

Can you please explain what is " true account-level "upgrade" privilege does NOT get burned by this $200 TMo incentive". Looks like it is not possible to double dip with TM bill credits here. TM has $800 off (bill credits) offer with the upgrade and trade in. But their trade in values significantly less.
