You're referencing the T-Mobile deal? There is indeed a standard process by which the line level credits are migrated to account level credits so that you can continue to receive them on a monthly basis.

Good luck!

If I'm not mistaken, BB will say "we are just the phone reseller". They will ask him to bring to phone to Apple for further checking. Apple may have the ability to find out what carrier the phone locked to or belonged to but they cannot do any unlock service.
This is what I'm afraid it will happen.
BB as a retailer, it should not sell customer a phone which is locked to an unknown carrier. If they sell a locked phone, at least, they should tell customer the locked carrier. Sure, Apple can figure out it. But Apple will not unlock it. The unlock request should be from BB or the carrier. I don't see a trip/talk with BB can be avoided.

BB will say they sell him a bnib phone straight from Apple. As a flex phone, it will be locked into the first sim insert. And in this case, it was his fault to get the phone into a sim locked mode. I doubt if they have the ability to find out whose carrier it's locked to nor the ability to unlock it.
What interested about his deal is he said he tried both ATT sim and TMobile sim and neither one was working.
Honestly it might be a waste trip to BB but it's up to him to decide.

WaveSIM locked - carrier lock ! EEK!
wait a second. When you see this in settings, what carrier SIM card is in the phone?
Or is there no SIM card in it?

Also, was your phone completely sealed when they gave it to you? There are two pull tabs in the back of the iPhone box, were they both in tact?

if a phone is 'canceled' I have heard the bb reps say that the phone is 'burned' and can no longer be used for a future transaction. I am not sure how accurate that is though.

Your senario was experienced by one or two persons before you. Something about ATT unlock process delayed for days ... and this is one of the two things I'm worried if I try to do the ATT unlock trick.
Well, Dan (saverdan) or some other experts may have some better idea of what to do here.

I submitted 4:30PM yesterday and received the approval 9:30AM today. I was worried something would go wrong what with all the posts saying it was nearly instant approval.
Submitted ATT unlock request and confirmed today @2:44PM EST. No approval email till 3 hours past
Looks like the process in not instant. Someone manually process it. May be for ATT customer get preference.

This is not the same scenario. This person admitted s/he did not confirm their email address or AT&T did not register their confirmation, so their unlock request was never processed, as stated in both the unlock webpage and the email confirmation.

Unless something changed, AT&T verifies unlock requests by email account, not by IMEI number. I seen unlock requests denied by overusing an email account; the fix was to use a different email account. Requests were processed immediately with the new email, no wait needed.

If you choose to try again, please follow the instructions. Say you are not a customer. Use a different person name and email (phone number should be left blank). Email should be gmail not hotmail (someone reported hotmail get rejected). Confirm the email this time.

The settings screen won't show you the carrier that the phone is locked to. You'd have to do a GSX query either thru sickw or eBay

I would go with t mobile if you are customer.I should just request unlock for my friend with my t mobile account, now I feel like I would have to go and exchange 2 phones with Best Buy.Wondering why system is glitching and Att is no help. They just telling me I have to ask BB for help…

It's locked to Att because my friend use Cricket. It's obviously why it's locked to Att.Activation I did with old Att SIM card connected to Wi-Fi so there is no way it was activated with t mobile. Also phone doesn't support other then Att or cricket sim or related to Att network.
