You're referencing the T-Mobile deal? There is indeed a standard process by which the line level credits are migrated to account level credits so that you can continue to receive them on a monthly basis.

Good luck!

I have not been with Cricket for years. If he was planning to use your flex phone on Cricket why did you do anything else but stick in his Cricket sim? He could try to unlock later or dispose of it with next year's trade-in program where they are not checking SIM lock status on phones.

I've been equally perplexed with folks wanting a "trick" for Mint Mobile. A TMo locked phone can run a Mint SIM but perhaps not vice versa. Can't and ATT carrier locked phone accept Cricket SIM cards? I seem to remember getting gear designed for Go phone or ATT prepaid and running those with Cricket SIM inside but this was years ago.

Dan
I haven't insert Cricket SIM card at first while activating. My friend use cricket so it's a a reason I decide to go with Att activation in first place so he can use his phone right away while wait till it will get unlock by Att,with Att trick I had issues.I submitted the unlock, confirmed email, few days later got confirmation that I haven't submitted the email and request will be canceled then I checked status and it's still saying PROCESSING.When I tried submit new request it doesn't let me,since it's tight up to IMEI so at this point I have to go and exchange a phone yesterday.I have second phone that I got for him and I did activation with Att SIM card as well but in this case he haven't confirmed email and past 24 hours was late to do so,but when we tried to submit new request it says it's PENDING.Att system is so glitchy at this point. So I have to go and exchange second phone and do the unlock with t mobile.T mobile unlocked his phone next day. Also reason why he need to be it unlocked because he plan on traveling overseas soon.

Att locked phone run cricket SIM cards Smilie

Yeah I just know that any plans that have discounts weren't able to upgrade in system
Reporting back, my daughter went to BB and traded in the WM 12 mini for a 13 mini by activating a new line and signing up for the TM First Responder plan (had to pay $10 for a sim). She got a new phone number. When she got home, we found out the first line on this plan costs $75/mth (not $25). She hasn't created a tmobile account yet and the sim was never plugged into the phone.

Do you think she can just create tmobile account and sign up for a different TM plan under BYOD and order a new sim? After reading 1500 comments, it seems the First Responder plan will auto cancel if she never activates the sim online and never plugs it into the phone, but we can't tell if the BB salesperson activated the sim at the store.

Yeah not sure what her main plain is. To stay with T-Mobile or not, she can sign up for a new plan like $20 talk and text and do upgrade to get new phone. But she might have already take a hit on her credit. What she can do is downgrade to the $20 plan online but she needs to create the account info from when she signed up through bestbuy.

Thanks. Just saw the phone number and MEID listed on her receipt, so the BB rep must have activated her phone already. She was previously on a $20 Tello plan and would switch to T-mobile if it was $40 or less. Maybe I can sign up for the Essentials 55+ plan in my name ($40/mth for first line) for her phone instead.

Those plans are great deals once you go for two lines. Essentials 55 is two lines for 55 including all taxes and fees.

Also, the TMo locked iPhone 13 will run the Tello plan anyway so she could just stay with Tello for $20 a month - not sure if phone numbers are being ported around but Tello makes it easy to port out.

Scanning the SIM card at the register does NOT automatically activate SIM or associated plan. Further action is needed on BestBuy website or via contact with T-Mobile. If she did not get a bunch of "welcome to T-Mobile" e-mails then that plan will die on the vine even though the Best Buy trade-in transaction went through the Best Buy system.

Sweet. I'll tell her to plug in the TMo sim (to lock on TMo), and then replace it with the Tello sim and she's all set to go. Hopefully the TMo plan she signed up will auto cancel.

Grateful for all the responses and advice!

I would plug in someone else's already activated TMo SIM to avoid setting wheels in motion in TMo and Best Buy systems - could save you some dollars and some hours trying to cancel something that will auto-cancel in a few days!

I have exchanged one of the phones at Best Buy because could not process unlock with Att trick for my friend that use Cricket.Waited for about week after following instructions from wiki but no luck.No restocking fees where applied but guys there pretty much aware of phones being locked to the sim that you insert first. This is what they told me but they agree to exchange since they haven't activated phone on the spot. Some how also I got $100 refund for the same phone being exchanged.
Do they have another phone in stock to exchange for you?
I'm still waiting for my 2 PMs to coming this Friday. I hope the ATT trick is still working. I already ordered the ATT sim card from MS and it should come before 12/17.
It will be some big DISASTER if the ATT trick loophole closed on 12/17. BB will have some long line for iPhone exchange/return.

They will exchange another color if you will be ok with it.This what they did for me.Also ATT wouldn't close unlock,it's not loophole,Att use to have it for years.T mobile may be start to activate phones on spot, this what was a loophole, but if you have T mobile account there is really nothing to worry about.

For some people including me it didn't worked after following the instructions, not sure why not but as I can see most people are unlocking without issues using Att unlock.

oooohhh the entitlement on this thread!

You happen to take advantage of a loophole by unlocking a t mobile promo phone with supposedly not even activating a phone line?

Really? I know you want to sell on swappa/ebay in an unopened box!

Well I tried on couple of phones that I sold to see what would happen and obviously ATT denied because IMEI wasn't on their system. If you don't activate with ATT then how are they going to unlock it for you since IMEI isn't belong to ATT.
