I did a side by side comparison with the qn85a on Best Buy's site and it looks like the EXACT same tv so maybe it is just a Best Buy exclusive Black Friday model. If so I'm extremely tempted since we r in the market.

I bought this tv in 55" and I am returning it. it doesnt look bad but the contrast just isnt as good as it should be (it uses an IPS panel). Local dimming helps but doesnt improve it as much.
So unless youre watching only during the day in a living room and dont care for a home theater feel I would skip.
The qn90A has better blacks including good letterbox bars that stay black during most scenes.

75" QN90A at $2,079.99 (via Samsung EPP) is MUCH better TV.

I just went to Best Buy and spoke at length to a tv salesperson. Ultimately the QN84A IS the QN85- exact same TV with a special Black Friday model number and cheaper than the 85. There are NO differences between the two tvs. Use that info for what it's worth.

They are definitely not the same.
The motion rate is 240 on QN85A whereas it is 120 on QN84A.

From what I understand the qn85a has really good viewing angles. Some rooms need brightness that OLED can not produce. This TV has a place. If you need off center viewing in a brighter room it maybe a good option.

The qn90A is not ideal for off center viewing.

As you stated 55" model, 75" looks leagues better and the 85" uses a VA panel.

Reason why the 75" IPs version looks better is because the increase of dimming zones when compared to the 55" model and the 85" used a va panel just like the QN90A.

Correct, QN85 uses an IPs panel which has much better viewing angles than a va panel which is what the QN90A uses.

The 85" model though of QN85A is a VA panel.

I checked BestBuy today. Samsung answered questions concerning the differences between QN84A vs QN85A. From BestBuy Q & A:
"I just reached out to Samsung and it's the motion rate. The QN85A has 240 Hz and the QN84A has 120 Hz."
"The 75" QN84A is indeed a Best Buy exclusive model featuring 40 Watt 2.2 Channel sound, as well at Object Tracking..."

I beg to differ. Did comparisons with rtings on paper, but in real life, I have a friend with a QN85 while I have a QN90. The viewing angles are pretty damn good as reviewed.

You could be watching the screen next to the TV, but who the hell does that?
.
Aside from that, the TV gets sun direct towards the screen in the morning, so even with curtains open, the brightness of the screen is completely visible with one of the best anti glare I've ever seen.

In addition, the screen panel difference is what limits the contrast and blacks to really sad levels for a 2021 Neo QLED screen, meanwhile the blacks and contrast ratio on the QN90 is damn near an OLED that you'll be fine without the paper thin screen appeal.

Long story short, we are upgrading them to the QN90 with my EPP link and they're returning the QN85 😜

Apologies for the ignorance... what is the epp link and how do I take advantage? You sold me!

Do you have access to Perksatwork.com with your work or anyone in the family?

You'll need the employee purchase plan portal to be able to buy the reduced price on Samsung's website.

Do you or even a friend work for some standard corporation that may have access?
