Thanks all for the advice around getting companion pass! Opted for the $149 card since it essentially pays for itself every year ($75 southwest credit and 7500 points annually).

Here's my plan for anyone who might benefit from it:

- Before 2022, spend UNDER $2000 (I'm aiming for $1800 to have a buffer) so that the 50,000 point bonus does not hit in this calendar year.

- In Jan (and before the 3 months from start of account) spend the remaining amount to get to $2000 for the first 50,000 bonus. (Total 50,000 points for 2022 towards 125,000 companion pass)

- SPEND LIKE CRAZY, to get the remaining of the 12k as quickly as possible. Second 50,000 point bonus hits after this. (Total 100,000 points towards 125,000 companion pass)

- In the course of this, in 2022, should accrue at least 10k points from spending point accrual (110,000 points towards 125,000 companion pass)

- for the remaining $15k points needed, either refer someone to the card for 20,000 points, or just migrate more of my spending to this card.

The goal is to get to 125,000 points accrued in 2022, as soon as possible in the calendar year to secure companion pass for the remaining months of 2022 and through all of 2023.

For spending using credit card, you can have minimum federal taxes deducted at your income source/salary etc and pay estimated taxes every quarter using credit card. 1.96% credit card fee is well offset by credit card point value/benefits. I have been doing that since I started cc churning. Just an idea for churners!

edit:I meant the referral stack with 100k piints. I got the 100k application submitted without referral

I know you can transfer points from the UR site to your SW account, but booking with SW points won't accrue miles. I've never attempted to move UR points to SW since both the wife and I have over 200k on both accounts and I consider UR points more valuable than SW points. I've never called SW so can't speak to calling them and using UR points to purchase but pretty sure if its costs you 20k UR points you aren't getting 20k SW points that count towards CP. If that were the case the bloggers would of posted that loophole.

Called Chase and they confirmed that the offer is still available till 12/07 23:59EST. Application submission time is taken into account in case you are required to submit any proof's or application is in pending state.

From the Southwest site:
Points earned through spending using the Rapid Rewards Credit Card will count toward Companion Pass qualification based on when they are posted to your Rapid Rewards account and NOT based on spending date. The points post to your Rapid Rewards account after your statement closing date.

Applied 12/2 for instant approval. When I log into my Chase account, and click more, I see due date of 1/20. That means statement is well in Jan right? safe to start spending?!

Applied on Dec 1, approved, and ,my close date set of Dec 20. Should I keep that or does a change put me in a better position?
