Costco T-Mobile generally gives back tradein value back in visa/master gift card after a month or two. So it is easy for people who want pay upfront rather than waiting for credits over 2 years.

It's good if you are already on TMobile and plan on staying. Option 2 is only cheaper if the TMobile plan you switch to isn't so much more expensive than your current plan that it wipes out the $450 value. The cheapest TMobile plan is $35 more per month than I currently pay (unless this deal works with Connect plans, anyone know?). So switching to TMobile to get $450 off the Pixel 6 would result in $840 higher overall phone plan cost over two years, for me personally. So $150 (Pixel 6 phone cost after credits) + $840 (higher cost of plan over two years) = $990. So something as simple as just staying with my current plan and buying the phone at $600 MSRP is way cheaper over two years, without even taking into account selling my old phone or a different trade-in deal (that doesn't require a different plan).
This is what happened to me. My grandfather plan(15 yrs ago) at TMobile doesn't qualify for this promo. I had to call 611 to ask them why my screen at website was stuck on the pixel 6 pro page with no option to trade in and that is how i found out my current plan doesn't qualify. The other newer plans are more expensive in the long run compared to cost of pixel 6/pro, so i decided to not go with this promo. At the end of the day, i don't want to lose my grandfather plan.

Will likely just buy at Google or wait a bit to see if another promo comes along that i can use.

I don't see a trade-in option for OnePlus 7pro (non 5G). Any thoughts?
Very strange since I got $450 for my OnePlus 7T which cost me $330.00 a year last august. Did you try to order or are you going based on the OP post?

I would try to order it and see if your phone pops up as a possible trade in... I think it would.

What is so good about your plan?

I am also grandfathered in a older plan that they no longer offer. I have their first 55+ plan, got my mother-in-law to be the primary account holder and I am a authorized user so I can call in and change anything;

I am paying $60/mnth for 2 lines, unlimited everything but hotspot is on 3GB and maybe I can not stream netflix in HD (not sure cause I have never used Netflix on my phone).

2 lines for $69 after tax...each line 1500min, unlimited text, 3gb of data monthly for each line. I can't even add a line to this plan. I was told that i have to get an entirely new plan to qualify.

  • Most of the older/cheaper plans are on the Simple Choice (SC) designation.
  • Those plans were 2.5GB when they initiated and were bumped to 4GB.
  • These plans were $90-$120 for 3 or 4 lines initially and were later priced cheaper as I got in when it as $120 for 6 lines (had to get business account as 5+ was not possible on personal plans).
  • Then came the free voice and tablet line offers if you got in on them on the right time.
  • There were corp discounts and hookup discounts that people were able to stack and even move to the Magenta plans where there were no taxes
  • Lastly, last year one of the biggest things happened is that when TMO upgraded everyone on these plans to unlimited data and made promo permanent.
In short; a lot of stuff stacked on these plans; 20GB Hotspot; Free International Roaming and $10 to call our on the whole account; Free Tablet Lines and Free Voice lines all stacking on some crazy listing here on SD with 12 lines for $150 boasting Smilie.

I am on 6Voice+2Tablet+$10International+InternationalRoaming = $167 including taxes. I've added 2 more lines at $10+$5.20in taxes and CS has promised to "waive" the line charge so should be $180ish for 8Voice+2Tablets with Unlimited TT+Data+Hotspot.

No offence but your plan does not seem very good.

As I said, I am paying $60.00 for 2 lines unlimited EVERYTHING (but hotspot is at 3GB).

But the sweet spot today is $70.00 (taxes in) for the Magenta® 55+. You just need to get your Dad or Mom as the primary line. They have a cheaper plan for $55.00 PLUS tax for a little less. Even though my mother in law is the primary account holder she actually uses Verizon and the two lines are used by me and my wife.

But if I did not use my phone so much in Canada or call Canada every day, I would have jumped to MintMobile. Based on your plan, I would say you should be paying less then $15.00 per month for each line.

I am sorry but I feel you are paying WAY TOO MUCH. MintMobile uses the Tmobile network.

And just to do the math... two years of service.

$45 +45 (first 6 months), then $30 x 18 months = $630.00 for two lines. (plus tax... I think).

VS... what you are currently paying.

$69 x 24 = $1,656.00.

Look, you can stay broke all your life or you can TRY your best to lower your monthly costs and invest the rest into your retirement.

I'm on Magenta and was thinking of Switching to Magenta MAX to get the extra discounts. I have 2 EIPs already and she said if I pay off the phones to be able to add the new EIPs, then I'll lose my existing credits that still have 18 months left. I thought I've heard here that the existing credits would just run there course. Isn't that right?

They are both considered FLAGSHIP phones.

The big difference is
1. 6.7" screen VS 6.4"
2. screen on pro uses a newer tec that lowers the refresh rate to 10 when the screen is static and this lowers your battery power useage.
3.6.4-inch 1080p (2,400 x 1,080 pixels) 90Hz OLED VS 6.7-inch (3,820 x 1,440 pixels) 10 - 120Hz OLED
4. Extra camera (but all other camera's are the same)
5. the pro has 4GB of extra memory (but real world performance will most likely be very minimal)
6. Very minor design differences.

I got the pro cause I really like a BIG screen.

If you are not a gamer, I would not worry to much about the difference in resolution (both screens look Amazing) and it should come down to 1. what screen size you want 2. how much you can afford 3. how important is the extra Camera, the extra camera is the 48-megapixel 4x telephoto, OIS, laser-focus.

Here is an article....
https://www.businessinsider.com/g...ixel-6-pro
The only typo I noticed the the pro refresh rate goes from 10 - 120 (not 60 - 120).

My brother - in - law uses Mint Mobile for about 4 yeas... no issues. The only thing is after you need to pay for your plan once a year.

And if you do use your Dad, realize that it is his credit score on the line so if you are late, HE takes the hit. Also after he becomes the primary account holder you need to call up customer service and change your name back so when you call someone they will see your name and not your dad's name.

Personally, if I was you, I would switch to MintMobile and SAVE. But you will not get any deal on any phones and lose out on T-Mobile Tuesday promotions.

ALSO the $70.00 per month plan comes with basic netfllix for FREE.

Talk to customer service but I would assume you would then lose your promo and be charged for the balance of your credits.

I was confused by this too. I contacted customer support and they told me that it's covered under the 7 pro 5g. Even verified the $40 trade in that showed but she said it happens behind the scenes. Worth asking for yourself though. I saved screen shots just in case.

Customer service usually does not know. The will plug everything in the system and it will show the amount same as in the app when you upgrade to Max. You would want them to ask their supervisor and put in the free lines for Max too. The supervisor will also said no guarantees. The free lines after September 2019 are usually allow free from Magenta to Max. The older free lines likely to be $15 extra per line. My was $120 for 2 lines plus 3 free under Magenta and went up to $140 for the five lines under Max. Of course actual is more because I have 3 lines under Equipment plans when I have some credit and some in phone payments. Remember If you get a trade in value of say $1000, you get $500 for your trade in phone in a lump some credit, you still need to pay $1000 for the phone over say 24 months, that means you get monthly credit of only $500 over 24 months since you had already receive the other $500 earlier that pay your existing bill. There will still be a monthly extra charges for the $500 owe for the phone spread over 24 months to your Max plan.
